Tonsillitis? My granmother just found out that now her dog has tonsillitis! I have never heard of dogs getting this before. Does anyone know anything about this? I just wonder how common it is. Her dog has been one sick puppy lately. First he had to have surgery AGAIN because of eating everything under the sun. He ate so much that he blocked his stomach up again. THen he got bronchitis. I am sure he got that from the vets office. My granmother wouldn't leave him at the regular vets office because they only check on them at night. They don't stay with him 24/7. So then she took him to the ER vet so he would someone there all the time. I think she made a big mistake moving him so much. She did this for 4 days. He was at the vets office during the day and the ER at night. Needless to say I am fairly certain he picked up the nasty bug along the way. Now he has this! I just hope that after he gets over this things will be better. Has anyone had to deal with this before? </IMG> |
Sore Throat (Pharyngitis) and Tonsillitis. These two conditions have a common cause and thus often occur together. In fact, sore throats usually do not occur in dogs as isolated infections, the way they do in people. Most sore throats are associated with infections in the mouth, sinuses or respiratory tract. They can also occur with systemic diseases such as parvovirus, distemper, herpesvirus and pseudorabies. The group A streptococcal sore throat (commonly known as strep throat) that occurs commonly in young children can produce mild or inapparent sore throat in dogs and cats, who may then harbor the bacteria in the respiratory tract. To eliminate the bacteria in households with recurrent strep throats, consider treating pets as well as family members. |
Thanks, in otherwords they need to look for an underlying cause. |
Gracie had tonsilitis. Never heard of a dog getting it until the vet said that was what was wrong with her. The vet put her on amoxicillian and that done the trick. |
