Tiny is being neutured tomorrow!
 
Yes the big day has arrived and tomorrow Tiny will be 'sin huevos' as we say in spain, he is also having some baby teeth removed at the same time.

Does anyone have any advice on what questions I should ask the vet before the procedure? I need to spend time translating what I want to say into Spanish before I get there ha ha.

We'll be thinking about you, but I'm sure everything will be fine.

There was a great thread recently called "surgery precautions" I believe. It gave some great advice. Here's a link to it.

Thanks for the link to the thread. What I'm most concerned about is that Tiny is not allowed to eat or drink after his evening meal tonight and his appointment is at 12 tomorrow. It's very hot here in Madrid at the moment and I'm worried he will become very dehydrated.

We'll be praying that Tiny will come through with flying colors! Perhaps you could address the dehydration concern with the vet. I totally agree, I am always concerned about that if Toto has to have a procedure. Please keep us updated ... while I know it's a totally stupid, useless thing to say ... please try not to worry!! ;)

Tiny is in surgery and I'm sat at home waiting to pick him up, I waited whilst he had his anaesthetic. It was horrible, he went all floppy with his little tongue poking out and his eyes open. All normal but still a little upsetting all the same!

Will make him something nice and soft for his dinner as he is also having 8 teeth removed. Poor little guy!

Remember to ask for a e-collar.Just in case he licks his stitches.

Hi everyone, Tiny is home. He is very disorientated, can't walk properly and it seems like he can't see me because when I stroke him he jumps out of his skin but then he sniffs me and gives me a lick.

Is this normal? I'm more than a little worried!!!!!!!!

I say buy a belly band when you leave him to go to work. My Dunks got neutered and he chewed his stitches off after the 1st day of being home from the Vet! So we had to run him back to the vet to get re-stitched! If I only knew to use a belly band, couldve saved me 200 bucks on the re-stitching!

How old is your yorkie. and how old do they have to be for neutering?

I think from seven months onwards as that is when they hit puberty so to speak. Tiny is 8 and a half months old.

My Dunks wasn't disoriented per say but he was very calm and chill... He didn't seem like himself but it was because he was still groggy from the anestesia or whatever it is that puts him to sleep... He was back to normal the next day though...

And as for him not seeing you, is it because he has the cone on? Make sure you leave the cone on the entire time until his stitches are removed... I am thinking that's why he can't see you clearly because of the cone... Call your vet to make sure about him being disoriented though..


I hope you paid extra for the pain meds!!! It helped Dunks tremendously!
