Merrick-Wingaling Bobo loves Merrick's Wingaling. I've only purchased the small (5.5 oz) cans. They come with one soft chicken wing. Do the big cans (13.2 oz) come with one wing or two? |
my babies have tried those too and they love it but since I make sure no bones are included when I serve it, I find it too much work :p I buy the bigger can and I believe it does come with more than one wing |
I've tried them too, and I think the bigger can comes with more than 2. I want to say 3 or 4. |
Up until recently when I CANNOT find Wingalings in the stores where I usually purchase it (I really wondered if there was a conspiracy or they were discontinuing the flavor.), my dogs will only eat Wingalings. Anyway, there's at least 3 wings per large can and sometimes 4. Since I have 3 yorkies it's better to buy the big can and put any left overs in a plastic container in the refrigerator. I mix it with Merrick's hard food and they gobble it down. |

I also removed the bones thinking they were dangerous. They are intended to be eaten? Wingaling is Gracie's favorite flavor of Merrick. |
The bones contain calcium and they are meant to be eaten. You can mush them up with a fork if you want. Mine love Wingaling. Loki even knows the word Wingaling. The big cans usually have 3 wings. |
When I first noticed the bones, I wrote to the company because I thought it was a mistake. I got the nicest letter back explaining that the bones are edible and healthy, and if I'm worried because I have a Yorkie, just break up the bones with a fork. |

like I did! I felt so stupid when I got the answer. My email to Merrick's Customer Service: I have been using Merrick's wet and dry foods for my year old Yorkie since I got him and have been very pleased with the products, especially since the pet food recall. Merrick's has never been on the list, and one pet store owner told me that I never have to worry about your products since you are a small company, located in the United States. I can't believe the quality of the food. There's real chicken in the Wangling wet food! I was shocked, therefore, to find 2 chicken bones in one can of Wingaling. I've never seen anything unusual in any other can, and now have to inspect his food. I'm so disappointed since I have been able to trust your food for a year. :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( |

Awww....I know how you feel, LOL....but like I said, I'm sure you aren't the ONLY person to have called them on that! And, I came THIS close to doing the SAME thing, rofl. I'd bet that eventually, they'll make a note that's a little bigger than the rest of the printing on the can so that people know it's ok, so that they don't get so many calls or emails about it. I wonder how many people might have just stopped feeding it b/c of that and never realized that it was ok? |
I did it! fed Gracie some Wingaling tonight, this time WITH the bones. She devoured it! |
I've also fed mine Merrick's winaling. I don't like giving them big pieces of bones so I mush them up completely with a fork before giving it to them. |
I also remove the bones. I know they're soft & "mushable" because while I was writing a very mean e-mail to the company I accidentaly put my hand down on the bone & SQUISH! LMAO! I laughed at myself and closed the internet explorer, but I still take the bones out of her food. |
Guys - I feed the bones and I've never, ever had them even so much as cough. Even Loki who inhales his food. He actually eats wet food slower than kibble because when it's whole chicken like Wingaling he actually has to chew. I've been feeding them Wingaling about once a week for a year. I promise, it's NO problem. Also, Evangers has a similar product called Chicken Drummets (I think that's the name) So it's not completely unique and unheard of. My ONLY complaint about Merrick food is that they make Loki slightly gassy. So I just feed them for 1 meal, and kibble for the other meal. Most canned foods make him puke or make him sick, so I'll take a little gas. I've not ventured into home cooking and I do know that the experts say GOOD canned food, like Merrick, is better than even the best kibble. |
