What Dry Foods Do You Reccommend? My puppy will NOT eat dry food. At all. I have to mix it with something wet, more parts wet, at EVERY meal and I know that should not be necessary. So far, I have fed him Iams Smart Puppy and the sample of Science Diet the vet usually gives. I am scared to buy anything else because pet food is so expensive and I want to know if he'll actually eat it. What do you guys feed to your babies as dry food? Do both these brands just taste disgusting to dogs or something? I've heard about Bil Jac, Purina, Royal Canine for Yorkies, and Pro Plan Small breed puppy. Do any of you feed your Yorkies any of these products? If so, how do they like it? Does anyone have any different suggestions that are not just healthy, but actually TASTE GOOD to their Yorkies? |

Mine get california natural lamb meal and rice kibble and LOVE it. I recently received 4 free cans of the lamb and rice wet food so I'll mix a tablespoon in with their kibble occasionally and they REALLY LOVE that but it's infrequent as I don't want them to get used to eating wet food daily. |

Chicken Soup or Canidae :) |

My baby likes Flint River Ranch-I mix it with a little canned Wellness and a bit of table food depending on what's for dinner. |

Fromms or Wellness are both good brands |

wow im glad i asked because i've never heard of most of these brands! Where do you guys purchase your dog food? I do not think petsmart has canidae or fromms or wellness... thanks for your suggestions! |

small pet retailers sell california natural--most chains don't carry it. if you check their website ( http://www.naturapet.com/ ) you can type in your zipcode and a list of retailers in your area will be provided |

Thanks all of you! All this time I have been buying the totally wrong type of food! I've been enlightened! LoL...I've already started to enter in my city in some of the seaches and I've found a few really close to me!!! (Sorry, it's really exciting for me to find anything that's within a 50 mile radius of where I live LoL...) I think I'm going to try a bag of the Canidae and see how my dog likes it since I've heard so many great reviews about it. Thanks again! |

Watch for foods in pet stores that are too high in PROTEIN, Yokies don't need High protein foods. I buy Natures Variety |

Some of the smaller pet stores carry Wellness-my dog likes the canned food fine, its rated highly in large part because theres no fillers or junky additives. Evanger's also makes great canned food. As for Flint River Ranch-check out their website-they will send you samples-it is baked kibble: no chemicals, by products or corn. It has to be purchased via internet, I believe. There's no shortage of good choices. |

Eukanuba for puppies from Petsmart. Eukanuba is for small breed dogs, and I also had a puppy that would not eat dry food and used this brand!! She now eats dry food happily. I left the dry food out for her, although she looked at it with an upturned nose, she eventually ate it! :D Good luck to you and your baby, -A. |

Just wanted to tell everybody that I just went to this small little pet store up the block and bought a bag of canidae all life stages and edan LOVED it!! It was so weird (in a good way!), he was eating it like he eats his wet food! Usually, when I put dry food down he turns his nose up at it, then eventually eats a bite or two throughout the day. He gobbled up nearly half of what I gave him immediately! I dunno, maybe it just instantly smelled better or something...thanks so much all of you for your suggestions; I also emailed a lot of the other companies you guys posted to ask them for some free samples...finally, he will eat dry food without me bribing him with hot dogs or fatty grocery store canned food. :animal36 :) |
