So glad your babies are ok - it is a dreadful worry! I have actually stopped gardening since I had my girls! There are so many bulbs in the garden and last year Gypsy Rose dug lots up (bluebell bulbs) and I had to chase her all over the house and garden to get them off her. It was only because I had recently dug up the area so now I don't... the garden is wild but my girls are safe!! You do have to be very careful, I recently heard of a 12 year old cat that died from eating bulbs. Again, so glad your babies are ok - how are they today? Ana xx :aimeeyork |
sicky they were much better this morning when I left for work, my husband is home with them with ferm instructions to take them to the vet if there is anyway they are still sick....when I caught then red handed eating them all I could think of, sence I had read they were poisen to goats, was to feed them alot and make them start throwing up, so gave them extra canned food and treats laced with epacak[sp],in a few minutes they were letting loose, all I could think of was to get it out of there tummys, then started forcing pedealite,by 3:30 when I left for work they seemed alot better,Koki followed my into the kitchen looking for food, gave her fresh dry kibble[she normally wont eat it],she likes seaser's canned, anyway hubby says there playing all the time as usual, thanks for asking |
toby likes to dig for my moms flower bulbs and i have to keep a really close eye on them....... morning glorys make toby sick as well (but for some reason he cant stop eatiing them  ) unfortunatly getting rid of morning g,orys isnt an option anybody that knows about these flowers can tell you that there IS NO GOING BACK once theyve grown in |
Watch out for mushrooms, there are some that the vet can't even do anything about. Gidget ate some kind last year and got so sick, i gave her pepto bismo and luckily she recovered. Good ole pepto |
Thumbs down for Azaleas I almost lost a a Lab to Azaleas. Maybe they taste good but I came home to a yard full of pink confetti one day and a very ill dog...dollars later the vet told me it might be best to rethink the flowers. Glad your babies are feeling better. |
You can just about rethink your whole garden.Bulbs, all of them. Daylilies are ok, so I think are violets and pansies. Azaleas and anything in that family, like rhododendrum is poisonous. Alot of your medicinal plants like St johns wort. And Oleander is deadly. If I think of anymore I will be happy to post them. i have a little pygmy goat and pretty much anything that is poisonous to him is also toxic to dogs. I have a LOT of daylilies. |
Judy- Check out this site... There is a link that lists all of the poisonouss plants! Sorry to hear about your babies! Hope they are feeling better now! |
I'm glad to hear their okay. Poor babie's tummys, they sure had a long night. But.. it's good to know they're back to normal. Thanks for letting me know this information though. I never ever thought about bad plants! I just keep an eye out for household products and food. Here's another link to the list of poisonous plants. I didn't see Tara's link so I thought I'd post another one just in case http://www.aspca.org/site/FrameSet?s...nts/M01947.htm |

safe and dangerous plant list The ASPCA (www.aspca.org) lists both safe and toxic plants. It's amazing how many common plants are toxic. Good luck with your little one :aimeeyork |
