Romeo killed a baby mole! Romeo is up to date on all of his shots ... should i be worried??? Do moles carry disease??? Should i be fearful that the mother mole will attack him??? |
I have no clue and can't help you . . . but hope someone will have an answer for you soon. Hugs to Romeo |
I've never heard of moles posing a threat of any diseases. Wish my two would rid our yard of those pesty critters. They are tearing up everything. |
If anything, I would think the moles (being rodents) should be fearful of Romeo. Since Yorkies were originally bred to be ratters, this might be his instinct still. |
So sorry, I completely misread your title. Of course this is his instinct (hence the title)!! I would think they pose no more potential risks than a rat or mouse, but I'd check with the vet just to be sure. I still think the momma mole better watch out as well!! |
Could my parents borrow him to get rid of the one in their yard? My dad has had such a tough time with them this year.;) (BTW, I think he'll be ok) |
Bless your heart! I would be worried also, but I think it's kind of funny! Sorry, but it just cracked me up. I wouldn't worry about the mole, I asked when I stopped at the vet earlier and they didn't think there would be a problem unless she was hurt by the mole. |

Oh my gosh send U're baby to my house!!!!!!! TRUELY!!! I have Teddy, Who could care less about any other animal being in our yard! Sir. Galahad is taking after his mother, chasing rabbits out of our back yard that has a privacy fence all the way around it, I've had to go & stick boards up around the bottom to keep the rabbits out! I also don't leave them out there alone to afraid Galahad will go under the fence where the rabbits make their path, we're gonna put mesh down under the ground & nail it to the bottom of the fence to TRY to keep them out, Then there's ol' Tiffanie, well she is 100% rabbit and Squirrel Yorkie Yes the other day like 5 to 6 days after she had her 6 babies here I took her out back to potty in the morning and here I turned around and heard this noise and there was 2 squirrels running up the maple tree and Tiffanie trying to climb up it to get to them, if she had claws like a bear she would of been up there! LOL! I told my Dad (He has beagles) I don't know why they even made beagle cause there isn't no beagle will out beat Tiffanie on rabbit and squirrel hunting! Now if only she'd get my moles!!!!! I don't think the moles would hurt him, my parents has a 1/2 jack russel 1/2 Chihuahua and she hunts, gets and brings moles to them!! And she also brings snakes to them!! She won't let them outside if there is a snake near!! Really Dad told me she just brought a hugh black snake to him yesterday! So if Muncy gets moles and they don't hurt her then I'd say it wouldn't yours. I don't think Muncy eats them tho, did U're's eat it? We just went and got some Mole stuff to put down in the front yard (In their runs) (Our babies don't go out front, it's not fenced in YET!) to try get them to leave our yard! I made 2 flower beds out front and I'll be dang if that MOLE  didn't go under every flower I planted!!!!!!! And everytime I water the front yard here they come!! I've tried every old/new home remedy there is & NOTHING works!! I even peeled onions and put the peelings and onion in their runs didn't work! I told Justin I was gonna be like Caddy Shack and start blowing the yard up to get rid of them! So if U hear of a lady being hurt or house/car being blowed up in Indiana U all will know it's me, trying to kill that MOLE!!!!! My neighbors get a kick out of me trying to remend my front yard from them!! I'll have to take photos of my yard for U all to see what I mean about how bad they are! Does U're Yorkie trian other Yorkie's to Mole hunt? LOL! Maybe mine can take classes from U'res! LOL!! Hugs, Lee and 9 :aimeeyork's |
i read online that moles attack mice and rats. do you think yorkies could be attacked? |
Natural born hunters!! 1 Attachment(s) Hello! I don't have this type of experience with my yorkie, but I used to have a MinPin named Mojo. And Mojo was a super hunter/rodent killer! She was so fast, she could catch mice, birds, small gophers, you name it! I don't know where she would get these little guys sometimes. I think she was part cat somewhere cuz she would bring them back to me! She was about 8-9 lbs of solid muscle! Most of the time she would not "tear" her prey up too much. I would always check to see if she punctured her kill or not. She was up to date on all her shots and I never had a problem. Although I tried very hard to prevent these incidents, if they came into our yard, they were fair game!! If you ever catch them in the act, I recommend not trying to tear the kill from their mouths. I splashed mojo with a water hose once to get her to drop a mouse. They less contact with the rodent, the better. Good luck and feel free to pm me if you need any more help!! :D |
