What to feed... Howdy all, What to feed this fussy 4# Yorkie girl? I've tried several ..Wellness,Royal Canine, Bill Jack....ETC. She may eat it the first serving, but after that sniffs and turns away. I also have a 15# Yorkie that will eat everything ... :) I have been reading and a member of this great site for about a year, but this is my first post. Any suggestions? She will be a year old in Aug. Thank You..ALL YORKIES RULE :aimeeyork |
I feed Raw Frozen Food either www.naturesvariety.com or www.morigins.com I guarentee you, they woul LOVE it ;) |
Have you tried Canidae yet? That's an excellent food. Maybe you could make the kibble more palatable by adding some canned food, or moistening the kibble, or adding some chicken broth. Or, throw in a bit of human food - mix in some chicken, cottage cheese, bit of cereal, hamburger...? |

You'd have to look up where morigins is distributed in your area, prices might be different, I am not sure. |

 Good advice. Mine love when I mix extras into their food. |
i agree that canidae is a good food. Its what i feed Morgan. Just another thing to think about tho. Alot of dogs become picky eaters because they know their owners will cave in and give them whatever they want. If you find a food that you want to stick with, then stick with it. if your dog turns up his/her nose in a few days at it don't back down. Keep offering only that food to them and eventually they will eat it. Dogs will not starve themselves. Mine is 4lbs as well and i do not worry if she skips a meal. She often only eats a night and goes the whole day without eating her kibble. The food is out all day she just chooses not to eat it. Canidae is an excellent food and it has all the key ingredients and nutrition that i want my dog to have so that's what we're sticking with. good luck!! |
Just thought of another easy one - sprinkle some parmesan cheese on top of it. Have you thought at all about homecooking? |
I've been using Innova Evo Dry Food small kibble size for all size dogs since I got my Nene' and Wet Can food version recently since the company just started the line. The Breeder only fed this brand to all her dogs since the dry dog food is grain free and the wet one as well, but I do sneak in some homemade organic brown rice in with his wet food whenever I make for myself. Also cooked carrots and peas are great alternatives too. My Nene' loves when I give him some rice, peas and carrots. Good Luck, Maria & Nene' They sell Innova Evo brands at Pet Goods in NY and NJ I think or at a specialty shop just call and ask. |
welcome to YT!! Hi! Welcome to YT!! We are happy to have you here!! I sell the Healty Pet Net - Life Abundance pet foods. There is a fabulous puppy/adult food so there is no need to buy 2 different foods for your babies. It has all natural human grade ingredients and is shipped directly to your house which is very convenient! :) My girls LOVE it and i don't have to mix anything in it. Whatever you get, make sure to read the ingredients so that you will get the best quality food to your babies. Find one that has no corn, wheat or by-products. The corn and wheat can cause allergies and the by-products...well, you really don't want to know what those are! Post some pictures of your babies! We would LOVE to see them! Click through below if you would like some free samples of the dog food. :D ...Linda |
I feed my lab Canidae, which is an EXCELLENT food. Unfortunately, one of my yorkies has allergies, so my yorkies eat Natural Balance Duck & Potato. But, if he didn't have alleriges, they would eat Canidae. |
