Interceptor Question.... Ok who gives this vs the other brands. My vet said he recommends this the most especially with smaller dogs because they have the lowest bad reaction that he has had to encounter. The vets office wants $32 for a six months supply meanwhile I can get it from my vet supply place with the prescription for $15. So if you do give this brand I was also wondering how much you pay and where you purchase from. |
I just put Cooper & Carley on this. We got it from our vet and it was $51.00 for a 12th month supply. I figured I could get it cheaper on-line, but they needed to start on it and they had it right then. I may go online for the next set. |
Mine are on this too and have been on it since I got them. I buy a 12 month supply at 1800 petmeds for $40 shipping included. |
Mine are all on Heartguard Plus but my mom's vet reccomends Interceptor for her smaller (3lbs) yorkie. My vet says Heartguard is fine. I'll be watching this thread though- maybe I'll be switching. |
I don't know if it works any better or not. I have both the Interceptor and Heartguard. I alternate every month and I get the interceptors for $21 for a 6-month supply from my neighbor (vet tech), who gets it from the vet office she work at (at a discounted price for employees) |
The vet recommend Interceptor when Conner was a puppy. He is now 15 months old and I found it hard to give to him because it was so small - I never knew if he swallowed or if it was still in his mouth. We went to the vet on Thursday and he said I could switch to Heartgard Plus. He gave me the one for dogs up to 25 pounds and said I would cut them in half (they are kind of soft), and they will last me a year. I think I paid $28 - so that's not bad for a year's supply. |
My 3 Yorkies (Tif age:2.5, reg weight: around 10 lbs.) (Teddy age: 2.5, weight: 6 lbs.)(Galahad age 13 mo's, Weight: 6 lbs ? oz.) and I had our 1st litter on Interceptor too before they went to their forever home, this is ALL I use...None of my babies has ever had NO worms, heartworm or anything...I LOVE it. I have no touble giving it to puppies/adults either, if U just stick in in the back of their mouth then hold their heads up a litter then they just swallow it right down. I give it every month summer and winter now since the winters here isn't as cold as they use to be. For newborn puppies they give something else @ the vets then when they get a litte older my vet puts them on intercepter too, I tell everyone who get one of my babies to use this. I get a 6 pack every couple months & that runs me around $30.00 so I don't think that is to bad. Hugs, Lee & Babies :aimeeyork |
interceptor is what we use for emmy. it is small, but i just wrap a piece of cheese around it and she gobbles it right up. |
My gang's on Interceptor because our vet thinks it's the best heartworm med for toy dogs. |
Ellie gets Interceptor. I think this is all she has ever had and she hasn't had any reaction to it. We get it from her vet and I'm not sure how much it costs. If I find the receipt I will post. |
