I was so worried when Pluto went to be neutered but he did just fine. He wanted to lick himself though so I had to put a cone on him. He looked so pitiful with it on, but got used to it. I had to leave it on him though because he was turning his incision red. I tried to keep him calm but he wouldn't have it. He ran and played and jumped around the next day as if nothing had ever happened to him. |
Wolfie made it through and is doing well this morning. Just dealing with the cone issue and looking for alternative. He doesn't seem to be licking much so I took it off. So glad I did it now and glad he is recovering. Thanks everyone! |
1 week out Hi Ladies My pup is a week post surgery and doing very well. He is his normal feisty self, running and jumping, as much as I try to keep him less active. His cut looks dried up with a little left over dark dried blood. I have to take him next week to get his stitches out. I have been using a cone because he does lick there if I don't and for some reason he really like the cone - go figure. I am wondering if by now I can take it off and even if he licks it, will it be okay? But more importantly, I am noticing that his behavior is worse not better. He is peeing places in my house that he never peed in. I have him pad and outdoor trained, but now he is peeing everywhere. Also, barking a lot more at people or passing dogs. Has anyone had this happen or does anyone know why? |
I took Pluto's'so cone off after a week and he was fine by then. He didn't like the cone at all the first day or so, but he got used to it and was fine wearing it when he needed it. I didn't have any issues that were different as far as him using the potty inside. He has never been reliable in the first place. :) |
Teddi girl I believe neutering is a more severe procedure for a female than a male....My Teddi girl is going to have it done this coming Monday......I hate those plastic collars...the towel collar seems a great idea and im going to try it...Isn't YT brilliant....Thankyou all...:animal36.....:D |
My Jack Daniel just was neutered yesterday. I was happy to find this thread and read about others experiences. It's the morning after and he's been up a couple hours now. I also have a 5 month old, Chloe Grace, full of puppy mischief. Jack seems abit slower moving around, but gave me a shock when he hopped up on the sofa. I was told no jumping up and down, oh my. Lots of pillows on the floor now to limit the distance and I will try my best. From reading the others posts I guess it is ok. I must say, he looks wonderful. So we are off on the road to recovery. :animal-pa |
