Question about fixing my female My baby meeka is almost 18 weeks and only 2.2 pounds. She has had all her shots and the vet said that she can be fixed at any time now. The vet said that she would like to do it in two weeks! She will only be 5 months and I doubt she will be much bigger. I made the appointment cause that is what they wanted but when I made it I was already planning to cnxl it. When did you guys get your little babies fixed? I would like to get it done before her first heat but I was thinking another 2 months or so. |
Autumn was just 6 months when I had her spayed. I think she should do fine! Good luck w/whatever you decide!:aimeeyork |

I agree on at least 6 months. My Vet did Misha at 4 months, she said it was time. I didn't know about the canines & baby teeth. She had to go back under & have them removed months later. Do it all at one time when their small, no need to have them go under twice. I waited on Piper & had hers all done at once. She was 6 to 7 months. |
I recommend waiting till she is 6 or 7 mths. It will make it abit easier for her to go under anesthesia only once if she needs baby teeth removed too. |
My maltese was just over 6 months old and 2.9lbs when she was spayed, and she did fine. I agree, you should wait until she's 6-7 months old so that they can take care of any teeth that may need to removed at that time. |
My lil one just turned 4 months old and weighs 4 lbs....My vet says he wants to wait on having her spayed.... Maybe he wants to wait to see the development of all of her teeth....I don't know...just going by what he has said... I have had this vet for over 25 years now, so I trust his judgement and what he says.... |
My vote is to wait for the 6 months to go by....and then to wait for the progress of her baby/adult teeth to shape out. Tia is going in next week (she'll be 7 months). She would have gone in a montha ago but my vet wanted to wait until her canine adult teeth were showing (even though many of her other adult teeth are in) because they will be extracting all remaining baby teeth. |
