Scar Tissue After Spay Bella was spayed back in early May...I have NEVER been so unhappy in my life with a vet. The incision looks horrible. And I switched vets ever since...but the new vet even commented that they did a horrible job. Well the incision has always been bumpy. But I just noticed 2 dime sized hard spots where the incision is...they move it you put your finger on them and push. I am freaking out now...I don't want to seem like a overprotective person and run back to the vet tonight after last nights bout with heat exhaustion. SO I was wondering you any of your babies got scar tissue like this after a spay..or should I call and take her in...I am going to try to take a picture of it and post it; but she doesn't want to lay on her back to cooperate now. Any suggestions.. I am hoping they didn't leave gauze or something in her:( :( |
Autumn has something similar. When the spayed her the did the stitches internally. You can actually feel two lumps under the skin. I asked the vet and my groomer about it and they both said it looks fine and could take up to one year to completely go away! She was spayed the first week of April. |
Picture of what I am talking about This is the best I can get...they look smaller on camera then what they really are. I couldn't get a good photo :thumbdown But the lines point to them |
1 Attachment(s) Would help to post the photo lol... |
Did the last Vet. see those two areas? If so, what did he say about them? They do seem to be odd and are not inside stitches. |
I don't believe so; the bumps arose a few days ago but I never touched them..last night my boyfriend and I were playing with her and we saw them. |
Lily has these hard bumps where she was spayed too. I think that it is where the internal stiches are. I asked my vet about it and she wasn't concerned either. She was spayed about a month ago. |

I have no idea, as I've always had boy dogs. But if there was internal stitches, sometimes it takes awhile for them to absorb, and sometimes they actually work their way to the surface, where your vet can easily remove them. They don't look red and infected, that's good. The one spot looks like it's not really by the incision, but I could be wrong, can't really tell. Could they be incisional hernias? I'm going to go back and look at the picture again to see if I can se it better. If they are little hernias, it shouldn't hurt her, but watch them to see if they get any bigger...that's when they could cause a problem. Try not to worry, I hope she'll be okay!!! |
Dior had bumps also and they disappeared slowly. She got spayed on Feb. 28th. |
