Feeding Yogurt

Hi guys! This may be a silly question, but I can't seem to find the answer. I have heard many of you feed your babies yogurt. What kind? I bought some Plain yogurt, is this good? I would hate to try it and her get sick from it. Any advice would be helpful.

I dont know if i am right, but i think plain yogurt is the only kind they are suppose to eat because of the sugar content in the flavored yogurt.

For the past few months, Ozzie has been eating Yo Baby! yogurt. (It's made for babies.) It is organic and has six active cultures. I only give him the vanilla/banana pack though.

It's in the yogurt case.

Chloe loves the Horizon organics whole milk plain yogurt. OMG that stuff is good. I like to use it in Chicken Curry, but sometimes if I put a blop on her food, she loves it.

She also likes flavored yogurt. Strawberry, blueberry, vanilla, etc...

Flavored yogurt is okay, but the less artificial stuff, the better. I use Stoneyfield Organics and I alternate between the plain and the vanilla. Stoneyfield is the only brand I know of that has more than one culture (6 active ones) in it. Yogurt is really good for keeping their digestive tract healthy. Make sure to read the ingredient list, particularly if using low-fat. Never use fat-free as it contains artificial sweeteners.

I give both my kids the Activia Vanilla as it has live cultures as well! They love the stuff and it is a "treat" for them!:)

Stoneyfield MAKES Yo Baby! When they didn't have Yo Baby! vanilla/banana, I bought the Stoneyfield yogurt.

I give mine flavored.....no artificial sweetners tho...my baby is hypo so I share my sugary things with him...(in small amounts) and I go for complex sugars not so much simple sugars. The fruit is good for them too!

Does low fat have artificial? Or is it just the fat free??

I think that's going to depend on the brand. That's why I chose the Yo Baby! because it's organic.

You need to read the labels just to be safe, but most of the time low-fat does not have artificial sweeteners.

I forgot to add that my girls get a heaping tablespoon of yogurt with their Missing Link for breakfast every morning!!!

I think some do, some don't. Aspartame is one of the really bad artificial sweeteners, I don't even let human kids have that. So check it out, maybe google the ingredients and make sure its all healthy for your furbabies.

Thanks guys for your help. I will have to go back to the store for some yogurt for my baby girl. I wanted her to have a real treat when she got home from the vet, but I don't have the right stuff. Of course I grabbed the fat free, so its a no go! I will check my own yogurt to see if it is ok. Thanks again.

mmmm had to go grab myself a Yo'crunch strawberry w/ nestle crunh bits! i love the Yo'cruch kinds for myself! I get plain yogurt for Koda and he has it for a dessert every evening after his 2nd feeding

Spike is so sad his mommy (my daughter) is out of town he isn't eating very well. I bet yogurt in his food would do the trick! I have to hit the grocery and I'll try it tonight.

The gourmet pet bakery around the corner from me has frozen yogurt in which they add flavors like peanut butter or berries. Great for a hot afternoon treat!

Plain yogurt is fine unless your baby starts showing signs of alleriges. Many dogs are allergic to dairy.

Yet another reason that plainer is better!!! Keep in mind though, the yogurt is processed much different than milk is and that many with dairy allergies can have yogurt without ill effects (my skin-son was a prime example of this, highly allergic to milk/cheese, but could have yogurt no problem).

Mine get the plain non-fat yogurt and I add either blueberries, blackberries, raspberries or strawberries. They gobble!
