If it were allergies shouldn't something be given orally? How about Benadryl? Is that safe for a dog? I had a terrier who was allergic to everything on this earth, according to blood tests and I had to put him on steroids! Became addicted to them and could never get him off. My poor Teddy. He lived to be 16yrs. I know how awful it is to see them scratch. You just want to scream for them. I hope your little one gets relief soon. Grass is also big on the allergery list for dogs. |
If your dog has an allergy, then treating the skin itself won't help in the long term - you need to find out what he's allergic to! Did you change his food or give him a new treat? Start by removing everything he eats, and then re-introducing things one day at a time. Watch him clsely for a reaction. The only downside to this is that you have to be very diligent about watching them to make sure they don't steal something they shouldn't have - that would negate the whole process, and you'd have to start again! If you re-introduce the food and nothing changes, then you might want to look at his toys and bedding. Did you recently change laundry soap or cleaning products? Has he been outside in a new place, like a new park? If so, it might be poison ivy or a insect bite? Your prime suspects are anything new that he encountered shortly before the rash developed. Good luck! |
