Teeth question.. Ginger's baby teeth aren't falling out, but her Adult teeth are growing right beside it  She looks like a SHARK! :p Is there something i should do? or should I wait it out till her teeth fall out? i'm just kinda scared something will happen lol.. i'm probably over paranoid. But i brush her teeth along with oreo and cloey's every other day. |
Don't worry, it's very common. How old is she? Has she been spayed yet? If she hasn't and is old enough (6 months), I would get that done right away. While she is under they will pull out all of the baby teeth that have not fallen out. Bentley had the same problem (it is common in toy dogs to have double teeth). If it hasn't happened yet, soon her mouth will start to smell from food getting stuck between the two sets of teeth. There is also the potential for the permanent teeth to come in wrong due to overcrowding. I would get them taken out as soon as possible. You also may want to get some teething treats or bully sticks for her to chew on that will loosen up some of them to fall out on their own as it can get expensive for the vet to take all of them out (mine charges $25 per tooth, although they stopped counting after they had taken 8 of Bentley's out). Good Luck! |
Gucci still has some baby teeths, when she gets spayed the vet will pull them out. Like Bentelys' mom said this problem is common in toy breeds. Probably you should brush her teeth more often. Good luck. |
Duncan had his teeth out when he was castrated - seems fairly common in yorkies I haven't seen it to any other breeds. |
Baby Teeth When our Yorkie, Carib, was about 6 months old all his baby teeth weren't coming out either. We had them pulled when he was neutered. Poor pup - got it from both ends. We waited a little too long though - 2 bottom teeth are crooked, though it doesn't prevent him from chewing. So, get those baby teeth pulled asap! Good luck to you! |
