Face rubbing after meals?? I was wondering if anyone elses baby did this?, Snuggles, Snitch and Spyro always do thi like clock work. after a meal they rub there faces into the couch and sneeze. sometimes they rub their eyes with their paws ( looks really cute) but i was wondering why they did this. they have alwasy done it nomatter what kind of food they where on. So i didnt worry that it could be allergies sinces it something they always do. anyone experinece this? |

I used to think it might be allergies with Baz, but after I started really paying attention, I see that he does it to dry off his beard! I feed Merrick's canned and he always has a big gulp of water afterward. Then it's time to dry off! I notice that he doesn't do this when he picks at the dry kibble I leave out. Do your babies eat wet or dry? |

ha:D ..we are on merricks canned too..and your right they dont do it after dry kibbles. thanks |

Ozzie gets homecooked food so his face is frequently a mess after a meal. If I don't see that he has something on him, he will jump in his bed, on the sofa, on the floor (now the throw rug since the carpet's gone) and rub it clean. One time, he came out of the kitchen and I caught a glimpse of him and saw a chunk of cottage cheese by his mouth. Before I could even get to him -- much less get a rag -- Toby the Kitten came up to him, sniffed his face AND ATE THE COTTAGE CHEESE! So now I tell Ozzie when his face is crummy that we need to call Toby.:) |

Oh yes, my two love to clean each other after meals, you'd think they were cats!! Kalani is the messier eater of the two so he often does the rubbing on the carpet thing if his sister or I don't get to him fast enough - LOL! |

Dior face rubs after she eats also. It is soo funny. She is currently on Canidae kibble. |

I know most of you are talking about just trying to get the food off their faces, but to others who are reading this thread, I also want to add, that head pressing/rubbing particularly after meals is a symptom of liver shunt or mvd. Don't want to scare anyone, as it sounds like your babies are all just trying to clean themselves :) LOL But just wanted to throw that out there. |

All of mine do the same thing, up and down the couch. All three are on different diets. I think it's a way of cleaning themselves and also that their happy that their tummy's are full. This is when Ally looks for her belly rubs and only when she lets me. :p Then it's who can shake their toys faster and make the most noise....just too funny. None of mine have liver shunt. ;) |

All the yorkies I've ever had rubbed their faces after a 'wet' messy meal. My two now only do it on Sundays after they eat eggs. They don't do it other days when they eat their Canidae dry. I try to have a wet cloth handy before they rub their 'egg faces' along the edge of the couch! |

Jake does this after drinking water. I think it's to dry off his face and beard lol. |

That's just a normal doggie thing. I've never had a dog that didn't love to rub their face after eating!! :p |
