Are the floor cleaners safe? Hello! I have been told that it isn't safe to use such products like the Swiffer Wet Jet on my floors. Obviously, you don't let your animals walk around on the wet soapy floor, but I was told that they aren't safe for the dogs, even after the floor has dried. I guess the dogs can still pick up residue from the soap (on their paws) and after licking their paws, it can cause serious injuries, such as kidney failure and other issues. I'm just curious if there is any validity to this story and if anyone out there has also heard this at all? Much thanks! ~Harley's Mama :aimeeyork |
My chiropracter is a big all natural/healthy sorta guy. He thinks most of the conventional cleaners are poison and uses mostly Melaeuca Now that my cleaning supplies are getting down there, I'm looking into switching over. |
I only mop with water and a little bleach, and sometimes just water and alcohol. I don't buy cleaners at all. |

Hi YorkieDaze, One of my Yorkies had got sick a little while after I mopped with Armstrong once-n-done. I told the Vet that he is very currious & actually was licking the wet floor after I mopped. I have always thought that is why he was sick. He gets into everything if you let him. He tries to take the cleaning rag from me when I am cleaning anything. Now I put all of them in the back yard when I mop & lock them out of the bathroom when I am cleaning! My question is: What do you clean your Bathroom Fixtures with (Toilet, lavatory, tub) How do you get Soap Scum off of the Bath Tub? Thanks, Kim |
I'd like to know too, as I have the Swiffer Wet jet!!! And just used it tonight! Quote:

I just checked out this website; thank you for telling me about it. I guess it's good to know that it might be an urban legend, but after reading what others have posted, I'm considering using products that are still a little safer for my dogs, my house, and the environment altogether. Thanks to all the replies! My babies are my world!! :animal-pa ~Harley's Mama |
I think I just posted this somewhere, but I don't know where it went :) I just checked out the the snopes.com website; thank you for the information! :) It's good to know that it might be a urban legend - after all the responses I've read, I'm thinking it still might be a good idea for me to consider some non-toxic cleaning products anyway, just for the dogs, myself, and the environment. Thanks so much for all the responses I received! :animal-pa ~Harley's Mama :aimeeyork |

I use and swear by Natures Sunshine. This is what I use: http://www.naturessunshine.com/us/pr...?stocknum=1551 I use it on everything, even add it to the laundry and you dont have to use much at all. |
I switched over to Shaklee products and WOW-----I can't believe how great they work. Better than all those smelly products that are mostly toxic. The laundry stuff is the BEST I have ever used----I am now completely chlorine free and my clothes feel new again. My hands are no longer dry and scaly from cleaning----I use to moisturize all day long and use a heavy duty one at night-------no longer! Laundry and the house stay clean longer-------I guess because there are no residues left behind to grab every little thing that in contact with them. I'll never use anything else again. |
floor i use a steam floor mop by steamboy. it work very good Chemical-free cleaning is the safest way to clean your home, keep your family safe. |
