Any plant-based/natural flea preventative products? Anyone know of or use any plant-based or natural flea preventative products? I hate using Advantage.. it takes forever to dry and I'm so afraid that with two dogs that they are ingesting it when they play with each other; not to mention rubbing it off on every surface they come in contact with. Any suggestions? |

That sounds easy enough. Do you use in additional to something else or just the shampoo? Thanks! Anyone use nutritional yeast? I've found a lot of information about using that. |

Yep, we use nutritional yeast in my baby's homecooked meals...Also, sometimes I put a little tiny bit of garlic in her meal, but definitely not every time because it could make them sick. It also helps keep fleas away. |

Thanks, everyone. |
You can order it from amazon.com...I think it's from Mother Nature or something like that. It comes in a silver bag. |
Okay, Eucalyptus oil? That one I haven't heard before. I'll have to check that out. Love the lavendar idea, but dh is deathly allergic to lavendar and just the scent gives him hives. I'm horrible at consistently adding things to food, so will have to skip that one. I've also been told to bath in Dawn. Not plant-based, but not advantix either. Great thread, I'll be checking back here frequently for updates and ideas! |
I have used Sentry Natural Defense from Petsmart and it is made of differnt oils. I have put it on my lab but it does leave there hair oily. |
For some reason, this thread wasn't showing up for me. I had to do a search to find it. Anyone else having this problem with this thread (or others)? |

The yeast flakes can be bought at any vitamin store. Saves shipping. You can add 20 drops of rosemary oil (also bought at vitamin stores) to 16 oz. of conditioner. There are lots of other fragrances that repell fleas as well. |
