This just shocks me! |
sorry, i don't know why that didn't link, copy and paste! |
Yes, it used to be more common than it is now. Here's the link for those that don't want to cut and paste. http://tinyurl.com/yvtz76 |
Is Melamine like a plastic type material? When I was a very young Melmac (sp) was what the "non-breakable- dishes were made out of...I think this is the same type of material..it was very popular back in the 50's and 60's...My Mom had the whole set. Maybe if you don't micro wave food on them they will be fine. |
Melamine in food is toxic. Melamine resin is made from the chemical melamine and some other chemicals, but it is not toxic to eat off of. It's not actually correct to call melamine resin simply melamine. :p Many plastic things are made out of it, including laminate floor tiles, etc. ;) I don't think it's too toxic for us! (Just like chocolate, etc. is not toxic for us, but it is for dogs) |
