How to prepare eggs for dog? So I have the choice of making either scrambled eggs, or boiled eggs. I'm kind of lost though - 1) How cool do the eggs need to be before they can be consumed? Cool to the touch? Warm? 2) How big should the pieces be? 3) What seasonings (and how much) can I add? 4) Salt is okay, right? As you can see, I'm totally lost! Any help is appreciated. |
I have always just hard boiled them for the babies. I know there are a ton of people here who make eggs so I'm sure they will be able to help you out :) |
I don't use any seasoning when I prepare eggs for the dogs:) As for the temperature of the food, mine like it warm - imagine that you're feeding a baby or small child - just a little warm but not hot. |
Boiled egg, scrambled in a non-stick skillet or add on a tiny bit of olive oil, and don't use salt on the dogs food. I'm sure you can judge how cook the egg should be before feeding it. Just cut the eggs up in small peices if you like. |
I Just Use A Small Egg And Beat In A Little Milk, And Microwave It For 60 Seconds - If It Is Not Done Do Extra 10 Seconds Or So. Then Stir It Up And Allow To Cool Slightly. No Seasoning or oil/butter. Yum Yum Yum - Harvey Loves His Little Scrambled Eggs. |
My boys have an egg every Sunday morning. I fry them in a non-stick skillet with a tiny bit of olive oil. They mostly get the whites, with just a little bit of soft yolk. I do add a little salt for flavor, cut up in small bite size pieces and serve warm. And I mix it with their Canidae dry. |

I like the idea DianeW's idea as well, of adding a little bit of milk with the egg.. I think I'm going to try that this weekend! |
My dogs love scrambled eggs, no salt or pepper. I serve it to them warm, never hot. |
I feed my two yorkies scrambled eggs about twice a week. They love it. I scramble one egg in a nonstick pan (no Pam, no seasonings - just a plain egg) and they love it. I think I will try to add a little milk next time though and see what happens. |
I have given them to Mojo several different ways... 1. scramble in a little EVOO (extra virgin olive oil) - either the whole egg or just the egg whites - no seasoning at all - I may sprinkle w/ a little shredded cheddar. 2. hard boiled - egg white only - just cut into chunks (they will chew them) and sprinkle w/ a slight amount of shredded cheddar (no seasoning). I never feed very much....like, not the whole egg...just alittle....you can play around w/ that amount. I do the chunks of hard boiled eggs when I have to give him a pill....they are perfect pieces to hide a small pill in....and he doesn't know the difference...just loves getting the eggs. I have given him cold eggs from the refrig or warm eggs that have been slightly cooled. He loves them either way....but I think he prefers the warm eggs better. |
I give Teddy and London an egg a week except sometimes I take out half the egg yolk or take out the egg yolk completely as the yolk has so much cholesterole, about 300 grams. I either boil the egg or scramble it with no seasoning. |
Fur-Baby Omlet I make omlets for my babies.....Non-stick pan mix beaten eggs, crushed Innova Evo kibble, hamburger or chicken, some lowfat cottage cheese or a lil shredded Cheddar and they LOVE IT! |
Wesley and Maddie get about 1/2 an egg a week. I scramble one egg in a nonstick pan. Sometimes I'll use a tiny bit of olive oil, but usually I don't use anything. No seasonings or salt. I mix the egg with their Canidae/Artemis mixture and sprinkle shredded cheese on the top. Usually when I make them eggs, I'm also eating eggs. So I eat first which gives theirs time to cool. Then I serve them theirs. They LOVE it! |
