Grooming I have a male Yorkie with long hair. My question: Should I use a conditioner and moisten the hair each time I groom him? I also need to know the correct type of brush to use and where I might purchase it. Thanks, jad:) |
Hi, yes, it's very important that you spray a light conditioner or detangling spray before you brush his hair, so that it doesn't break. We use Coat Handler anti-static detangling spray and a Chris Christensen Gold Series Pin Brush, the smallest one that they sell. The reason these brushes are good is because they are pin brushes that do not have those little balls on the end like most do. The little balls on the end of a pin brush will break their hair. Also, the Chris Christensen Buttercombs are good to use on their hair. Different people like different ones. You can get those products from www.needsndesires.com Good luck! I hope this answers your question. |

sensitive? I ordered a nice brush with no balls on the tips and my Bella Boo hates it! Although I am very gentle with brushing her, it seems to hurt her. Grooming time is her favorite time literally almost passing out --but with the new brush she was not relaxed, guarding constantly. I ended up getting a human brush, with those darn little balls, but it is very soft bristled and doesnt seem to break the hair. Good luck. I use the Pet Silk moisturizing shampoo and Plush Puppy Reviva Coat mousse. I had tried several different kinds of petstore brands including Groomax. Her coat is so much nicer with these 2 products. A bore brissel brush works great on a silk coat. and wont pull or break hair. |
