Looking For A Healthy Dog Treat Recipe I would like to have a recipe for a soft treat and also for a crunchy one. I have the little bone shaped mold. I wouldn't mind using that for Harley but Livi is still a tiny puppy. What would be best for her? Thanks! Tammy |
Here is a dog biscuit receipe that I found on another thread. They were good. (Yes I did try them! My son liked them too! I wouldn't serve them at the next ladies luncheon or anything!;) ) I did not leave them in the oven after they were done like the receipe calls for. I did not want to try and cut them after they got hard. After you cut them, you can put them back in the oven utill they get crunchy. I would also use parchment paper to bake them on, they were kind of difficult to get out of the pan. Hope this helps!:D (You should also check out the sticky at the top of the Yorkie Health and Diet page. There are a lot of other reciepes on there.:) ) OATMEAL BANANA DOG BISCUITS: veg. shortening 3-4 LG eggs 1/3 canola or corn oil 1/3 C honey 1/3 C blackstrap molasses 1 C skim milk 3 ripe mashed bananas 3 C whole wheat flour 3-6 C uncooked oatmeal, depending on texture preferences Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Lightly grease a 10x15" baking sheet with veg. shortening Put eggs, oil, honey, molasses, milk, and mashed bananas in a bowl, and mix with a hand blender. Add flour and oatmeal and mix till it is the consistency of cake mix. Spread batter in prepared pan, (and be sure to let dogs lick the spoon and bowl! lol ) Bake 1 hour, turn off oven, and let treats sit till oven cools. Turn out onto counter and using a pizza cutter or knife, cut into whatever shapes you want. Cover and refrigerate or freeze up to 2 months. __________________ |
