Help---Throwing Up!! I need your help. Izzy threw up two days in a row. Ive been feeding him ground beef, rice veggies, cottage cheese and plain yogurt twice a day (morning and evening) Then, in the middle of the day I leave him a small amount of Solid Gold Wee Bits for a snack. This has been going on for a while. ( I ran out of the Dr. Harveys, Im waiting for my order to be delivered) So Monday evening, same routine he ate the ground beef mixture. (1/4 cup each feeding) Then like 4 hours later or so, he threw up. Tuesday same thing, I gave him the beef mixture like normal. I woke up in the middle of the night and he was throwing up. What could be wrong? The only thing I can think of that was out of the ordinary was I gave him a few small pieces of banana as a treat yesterday, on Monday he had a couple of soybeans as a treat. Maybe he ate something off of the floor? I dont know...maybe the ground beef needs to be thrown out? Please help! Oh by the way, he's almost 9 months and weighs 5lbs. |
Are you feeding raw beef or cooked? Did he start the home cooking gradually or suddenly? |

Poor baby. Hmmmmm...tough one. You know, Wylie will sometimes have a couple days where he'll throw up (rarely) and I can't find the reason. I always wonder if they ate something they shouldn't have. Maybe feed just boiled chicken and rice for a few days and see what happens? |
Yeah, Im thinking maybe thats what it was. I did catch him chomping on something but couldnt stop him, by the time I saw it he swallowed it. I might just do the chicken and rice thing for a couple of days. Its weird because I feed it to him in the morning too. When I came home yesterday, I didn't see that he threw up, but after I fed it in the evening it happened again...he doesn't seem to be sick he's acting like normal. |
Have you been feeding the ground beef for quite a few days now? It could be that is it too fatty for him to have on a regular basis...... Poor Izzy - Sissy & Angel send him get well hugs!!! |
Ohhhhh, maybe that's the problem. I have been feeding it to him for a few days. I started him off on ground turkey, maybe I should switch back or add chicken...Thanks Jodie! |
How are you cooking the ground beef? I fry it but blot all the grease out of it. Maybe it's too rich for his little tummy. I hope you can figure it out soon. I am glad he is acting normal and still eating. |

Also, some dogs are allergic to beef. It was probably just too rich for your baby. We've had success with ground turkey with my little maltese, Emma. Good luck!! I think the goal is to switch it up every so often so that they don't develop allergies, but not too often so that their tummies don't get all upset. |
Oh, also make sure that the cottage cheese and yogurt are low-fat or non-fat. Too much fat is hard on them. |

throwing up !! Mr vet told me take him off everything for 24 hrs. & then start back with baby cereal. After that, go to boiled chicken & rice. It worked !! |
the only thing I would add to the little ones diet right now is to make sure he/she is getting enough fluids. My little one gets dehydtated when she vomits. The only way I can get her to drink is to give her frozen chicken broth cubes. She liks  them until they are gone. I learned this the hard way. It cost me over a hundred dollars to have the vet hydrate her. Good luck and hope all goes well. |
