MY yorkie shakes and breaths really heavy My yorkie in which i got on thursday is 11 weeks old is always shaking after we leave her on her own and then go back into the room, is this becuase she is so young Also, when she is falling asleep or she has just woke up, she breaths very heavy threw her nose, its almost like she can't get enough oxygen, she was at the vet on saturday and she said she was fine but i dont know, alot of poeple told me it might be just a nervous thing because she is so young and only getting used to her surrounding, What do you guys think? |
I don't really know, but I am sure people will be able to answer your questions better than me, but my advice is to make sure she always has food and water to nibble and sip here and there. When these little ones are young and tiny, they burn up energy soooooooooo quickly. Also, make sure that you have Nutrical and make sure to give her some daily, until she gets a bit older. This will prevent any Hypoglycemic attackes. |
yeah she gets her vitamins atleast 4 times a day, and always have fresh food and water, maybe im being a little paranoid about her, but i just love her so much |
the shaking is from anxiety, she don't want to be alone. Does she have her own crate? She needs her own "space" maybe have a stuffed animal or a blanky in there for her. You may want to sleep with the blanky so it gets your smell on it, this might comfort her to where she thinks she is with you. I would get a 2nd opinion on a vet for the other problem. |
she has her own bed and free run of the house, the tv/radio is always left on for her so she doesnt feel alone and she always has toys/fresh food around her |
Oh, FREE RUN - Is probably not a good idea. TJ and Roxy were both contained in a spare room when left home alone. I put a 'baby gate' up to keep them in there. They were allowed out when I was home, but again, I contained them to where I was. When they were about 1.5 years old, that's when they were allowed FREE RUN ;) |

I just started giving my 1 yr old free roam a few weeks ago. |
i know i said free run, but our apartment isn't that big so thats why she gets out:) im just really concerned about the heavy breathing, |
Yes, I would leave the radio on too! And I would leave my PJ tee shirt in their bed, so they had me to smell! |
She could chew on wires, find something on the carpet and choke There are no visible wires for her to chew as there all high up on the wall and we have wood floors I am goin to start confining her in a few days, i just dont have the heart to do it now |

The heavy breathing I'm not sure about. It is allergey season and she could have an alleregy. But, if you are concerned, then bring her back to the Vet. :) |

I'm not sure on the heavy breathing, but I would get a 2nd opinion from another vet. |

For about 4 months, they were crated at night and they did good, and then it turned into well, they could sleep in our beds on the weekends, and by the time they were 1 - they were sleeping with us everyday and have been since ;) |
[QUOTE=yougetthesmiles;1106880]she would probably feel more safe having her own "room" Don't feel bad for her, your are actually doing her a favor.QUOTE] I know, its the best for her and i suppose if i dont do it now she will never learn thanks |

Remember, we all have been there, I know it's hard, I feel bad sometimes for my girls, but we have to realize it's for there safety! :) |
The breathing you are descriping sounds like reverse sneezing. When she does this hold your fingers over her nose, this will force her to breath through her mouth & that should correct the problem. Logan used to get this when he was little, it's like he'd forget to breath & then panic. If this doesn't help then ask your vet. Logan is also on 5mg of generic antihistamine for his allergies, but ask your vet before giving your little girl any medicines. Logan was kept in a regular baby playpen until just recently (he's almost 2 now) when we weren't home. It had mesh sites & he could chew out if there was any danger, but he didn't. He seemed quite content for the most part. However, he loves his free range now. |
