Dog food and Treats? My pup, Harlem, eats Purina ProPlan for puppies. Is this the best food to feed him and how much should we feed him? Right now, we give him about 25 peices in the morn and in the evening, just trying to figure out if that is too much or too little. Also, what are the best treats to give a 2 month old yorkie? Right now we give Harlem, I forgot the name, but they are hard crunchy little biscuits shaped like dog bones. Sometimes I feel that they maybe too hard. He doesn't seem to really care for them or he isn't really excited about getting them. Can anyone suggest anything better? |
For snacks, you can try natural foods like little pieces of apple(peeled), carrots, watermelon, yogurt, etc. NO grapes or raisins though. As far as food goes, the bag should be able to tell you how much to feed your puppy. Some of us have started homecooking since the recalls, but you can also take a look at www.dogfoodanalysis.com Look up the food that you're feeding and see what it rates and why. 4 and 5 star foods are recommended for yorkies. Also, I would recommend free feeding your puppy especially since he's so young. Just leave a bowl of dry food out all day, and make sure he has access to it at all times so he can eat when he gets hungry. Good luck!!! |
Hi Lanicha! I feed my puppy Purina Pro Plan Small Breed too, and I'm never sure if I'm giving her enough either? It's so hard, isn't it? I'm a first time dog owner, and I feel like I have no idea what I'm doing. My breeder fed her the Purina Pro Plan, so I'm hoping that it's good quality? I am anxious to see what responses you get for treats because I don't have any good ideas either:confused: Help?! |
If you have any questions about the quality of Purina Pro Plan, please go to www.dogfoodanalysis.com and look for that food on there :) It's a great website and will help you find a good dog food for your babies. Good luck! |
