Question About Frontline I live in NY and temps are slowly getting warmer. The highs are now getting in the 70's. I was planning on giving my Yorkie Frontline Plus again. I have one question, I gave him a bath yesterday so is it best to wait a couple of days before I apply the Frontline? If so how many days? |
My vet says not to apply frontline 2 days before or 2 days after a bath. So if he just got the bath I would wait till Sunday night or Monday to put it on him. |

My groomer always said atleast 3 days to let the oil come back out on the skin or something like that....so we always wait several days..... |
Thanks for the info. everyone. I think it's safe to put it on him tonight since his bath was last Thursday. |
The Ticks are def. out! I am on Long Island Last weekend (4/29/07) Roxy had a big tick crawling into her ear. Thank God, we saw it and I was able to get it before it latched on or even worse, crawled wasy down into her ear! Just to be on the safe side, I am also feeding 'Bug Off' tabs daily: http://springtimeinc.com/product/35/2 |
For all of you living on Long Island, beware the ticks are out and in full force, I just pulled about 8 of them out of Ladys ears last night. I felt soo horrible about it. It kept me up all night. Poor little girl. Please all of you be very careful and check your little ones when they come inside. |
oh no, i just gave my yorkie frontline right after her bath. didn't know we are suppose to wait two days after the shower. she was going crazy scratching like crazy after i applied it  |
 Our vet said wait 2 days after application before bathing the dogs.. but nothing about waiting 2 days after bathing to apply it. I'm looking at the paper that came in the box, and it doesn't say anything about applying before or after a bath?? It just says it is waterproof, and this: "Fipronil collects in the oils of the skin and hair follicles, and continues to be released from hair follicles onto the skin and coat, resulting in long-lasting activity against fleas, ticks and chewing lice" Maybe that's why your vet said wait a few days after the bath - to give the oils a chance to build up a bit again? |
What does tick on dog look like? My dog has a what appars to be a scab on his skin. I thought maybe he got poked by a branch whe he was in the bushes. I wasn't ware that he got injured in any way. Someone suggested it could be a tick. Does a tick always look like a smooth round ugly thing protruding from th skin? or can it look like a scab on the dog over a slightly aised area? This area is easy to feel thirough his hair. He does not pay attention to it, he can't reach it (it's on his shoulder..if a dog has shoulders :).. And if I touch the area he does not complain. Of course I'll go to a vet and see what it is...but how would I know if it's a tick or just a wound? I live in Northern Wisconsin and our days are not warm yet...though we did have a few days in the 70 degree temp about a week ago. |
