Itchy ears! My little guy is always rubbing his ears on the carpet or along the furniture. I have tried different ear drops but to no avail.:questione The vet doesn't think it is a problem but the dog does! Any ideas or good info will be much appreciated. Thank You! -MM |
chances are he has a food allergy... does his food contain wheat or corn or chicken?? (the usual suspects) you might want to try another food... |
My little boy has the same problem. I wondered if it was because he was teething, though it has never bothered my other breed dogs like this. He's forever scratching round his ears, though there's no ear problem that I can see. I remember my son having red ears that he rubbed like mad when he was teething as a baby, so wondered if it was something similar. |
If his ears are not infected then like someone said earlier, it's probably a food allergy. He needs to be on a food free of glutens (wheat, rye, barley), dairy, soy, corn, and beef. |
Is his skin flaky around his ears? Are they greasy/stinky? It could be sebhorrea. |
I am probably wrong but it is just a thought, are his ears very hairy inside? my Louie is always giving his ears a rub, and when I asked our groomer she said when its time for his pampering she would cut a lot out as he had a lot in there as there was nothing wrong with his ears --- just a thought:confused: |
Yes, sometimes excess hair in the ears can cause itching. It can also cause infections, due to holding moisture, but never cut the hair. Those should be pulled out. I would also take him to a Vet. to have them checked. |
