Ticks are NOT OKAY! This is sooooooo NOT okay with me! Just pulled 2 more ticks of Simon, one inf ront of his ear and one below his mouth. The vet says this is an extremely bad year for them b/c of our weather but OMG poor Simon. Not one in 2 years and now 3 in a week! And it's so hard for me to do it by myself I had to have the groomer at daycare help me. AGHHHHHHHHHH............. |

I sympathize. Ticks are such nasty little creatures. We always have a problem every year. There's a wooded area behind our fence, it's kinda nice to see deer and other cute wild animals, but the problem is that we have ticks every year without fail. We treat the lawn, and I have the pups on Frontline Plus. This seems to keep them at bay; although every summer I always find a few on them no matter what we do. Poor Simon :( |
Same here. We live down by the water and and a lot of the land in my neighborhood is 'protected - swamplike land' with LOTS of deer all over the place. So between the ticks and mosquitos - I just hate it :mad: Roxy had a tick crawling into her ear on Sunday :eek: I grabbed a tissue and was able to get it before it went down too deep and latched on! They are both on Frontline Plus and I just bought these Bug Off Garlic tabs. Only 2 days of eating them though, but I do hope they work too. Here's the link: http://springtimeinc.com/product/35/2 |
OMG I get the chills just reading the word "tick". I remember my first encounter on an animal. I was peting my Golden and I felt this lump about the size of a large grape. I said to my hubby, Ginger has some kind of lump, so we move her hair and my dh is like...Gross, thats an engorged Tick. I seriously almost passed out right then and there. We ran her to our vet and I'm not sure what he did but he got it off. That was by far the sickest thing I have ever seen..they give me the creeps!!! Kathy |
I do not like ticks -- they are nasty little disease spreading blook sucking critters. I haven't seen any yet this yeat, but I'm sure that they will make an appearance. Ok... so how does everyone remove them? I dab 90% rubbing alochol on them and when they turn loose I drop them in a small container of alcohol I keep just for that purpose. |
This is one reason my gals do not go to any dog parks or woodsy areas. The ticks are in trees too, so remember that when you are under one for the shade. The ticks are always falling out of them. |
Thats terrible. I just realized i dont even know what ill do if Chewy has a tick? how do you find them? how do you get them out? Help |

You can feel them and he seems to get him around his face and ears. I have been massaging them at night to check for them. The place where they have been removed are lumps now :( They haven't been out in the woods or a wooded area this week so he must have picked them up right out front in the grass while we were walking. |
I don't know who came up with this but my sister is into doing things the natural way and she just sent this to me this week. I haven't tried it (and I hope I won't have to!) but it's supposed to work. I guess you'd have to rinse the hair where you had the cotton ball to make sure the soap was gone but other than that I don't see that it would cause any harm. Do you? >>Apply a glob of liquid soap to a cotton ball. Cover the tick with the soap- soaked cotton ball and let it stay on the repulsive insect for a few seconds (15-20), after which the tick will come out on it's own and be stuck to the cotton ball when you lift it away. This technique works every time. Unless someone is allergic to soap, I can't see that this would be damaging in any way.<< |

Kim had already stated that she has them both on REVOLUTION, and never had a problem. She gives tham what they need, and things happen. TICKS are gross, and they can latch onto your pets, and CHILDREN too. So quit drilling her about prevention.... Ticks happen..... Poor Simon! |
