I'm a Bad Mom Simon had a tick on Saturday (even though he's on Revolution) after playing outside all day so I called everyone I could think of and nobody was available. I had never seen a tick before so I panicked a little (ok a lot). Took Simon into the bathroom, put him in a headlock (the tick was behind his ear) and took some tweezers and thought I got it all out. Meanwhile Hallie was SCREAMING outside the bathroom door. Took them to daycare today and the groomer was able to get "the head" out which apparently I didn't. I feel so bad for Mr. Man. She gave me a tool to use next time I see one. P.S. I really think ticks are gross~ |
Poor Simon!! Ticks are REALLY gross!! Cooper got one once right beside his nose (we too, use stuff for this:confused: ). We got it off, but then he had a red bump by his nose, so we took him to the vet and she said just keep neosporin on it. I felt like a bad mom too! Stupid Ticks (and fleas!!) |
I am glad the groomer was able to get the head out. I would be in the same position as you. I hate ticks and luckily we dont have them around here. Isnt revolution suposed to kill ticks? |
Lol, you're not a bad mom, things like that just happen! I usuually rub alcohol when the head is, and the usually back up. We send Simon many kisses. :) |
Poor Simon and poor you!!! We use Revolution also. How brave of you to try and get the tick off of him. :) That's great that your groomer gave you that tool to use if god forbid him or hallie ever has one on them again. I love spring & summer but NOT the bugs that come with it. :D |
Poor Simon...how aweful...... Its my understanding that revolution is not for ticks, only fleas and heartworm. My vet gave me something else for tick control. But it is very difficult to get the tick off, and you are not a horrible mother! LOL!!! Things happen...poor Simon baby!!! Give him lots of kisses!!!!!! |
Oh no, poor Simon!! Glad your groomer was able to get the head out. Tick are so gross...Eww! |
Awww poor baby!! You are not a bad mom you did the best you could and at least you tried to get it out. Those things are nasty little bugs:( I hope he feels better soon. |
Awww you're not a bad mom, just had a nasty tick to get rid of. I would put Coco and Rocco in a headlock if it meant getting these nasty bugs off them ;) Poor little Simon..lol..Sorry don't mean to laugh but I can just see you wrestling a 6 lbs dog into a headlock  |
im so glad you got that tick out of him..poor little guy. but i have to say, you just cracked me up with the headlock... your just too funny... i would of done the same thing, and i would of panicked alot.. |
Glad Simon is ok. I'm pretty sure that when you find a tick (on pet or person) and it's attached the best thing to do is to get a doctor to remove it. Because if anything stays inbedded in the skin it can cause an infection, also you could rip off some skin which can also lead to infection. (I only know this because my mom got a lecture from our pediatrician when I was little because she ripped a tick off my scalp and it came off, with a piece of my scalp attached). Ticks are nasty...I'm glad we haven't seen any around our place. Only grasshoppers, and Winnie loves hunting those. |
oh poor Simon . . . he got an unwanted visitor that won't let go :p . . . am glad it has been taken cared of. |
Since I use Revolution also, I looked up their website: www.Revolution4dogs.com Then click on Parasites and on the corner of that page click on ticks. It does say that Revolution helps to prevent External parasites such as fleas, ticks, ear mites besides also helping to prevent heartworms. I thought I knew our vet told us this, but just wanted to be safe and check for sure. :) I hope Simon doesn't get any more of those nasty ticks and his mommy doesn't have to deal with them either. ;) :D |
No more ticks on Simon :) I'm doing nightly tick checks on both. Hallie thinks she's gettting the worlds best massage and Simon thinks it's a good opportunity to chew my fingers. They have been on Revolution for over 2 years and this is the first tick I've seen so I'm happy with it. Also, Simon got this tick Saturday night so the vet wasn't available and I didn't want to leave it on him for 2 days (ewwwwwwwwww). Would it be wrong to have Simon live in a protective bubble? I would fill it full of soccer balls for him :) |
What do ticks look like??????? What color are they???????/ Never seen one before..... Thanks |
