home cook How many home cook for their yorkie? I've decided to home cook instead and I have noticed good weight gain because she was very small for a 7-8 month old. Also, all these recalls are getting out of hand and ridiculous so i've decided to cook for her instead :) |

awesome You guys are awesome to home cook for your little ones! I'm thinking of doing the same. I read about the poor dogs who ate the contaminated food. |
I just ordered Dr. Pitcairn's book, and I'm supposed to be getting it this week. I have read that it is very helpful and contains a lot of information on dog health and has recipes. |
I cook for my crew. 50% protein, 25% veggies and 25 % carbs. along with fruit, bone meal and supplements. Veal, Turkey, Beef, Duck, Lamb and Eggs. Very little broccoli and no onions nor grapes! Liza www.bbci.org |
Another good book is: Natural Nutrition for dogs and cats by: Kymythy R. Schultze. Liza www.bbci.org |
What kind of things are you cooking for your little ones? |
I ground all the meats, whether it be veal, beef, chicken ect. I steam my veggies, zucchini, butter squash, celery, very little broccoli, basically I do a rainbow of color with the veggies and whatever is in season. Steam the brown rice then mix everything together, sometimes I use oats or pasta. once or twice a week they get omelets. I also grate a little garlic clove on the food. Liza |
90% of romeo's food is home cooked but i still give him his science diet to munch on and leave that out for him all day. his vet says he is a very healthy little boy! at his last visit - 11 weeks old - he weighed 2.65 pounds.:) he loves yogurt and green beans! (not together:p ) and he really likes brown rice in which i add either chicken or ground beef. i am going to try introducing green peas to him to see how that goes. |
My dogs get their home cooked meals in the morning and I have dry food down all the time. I alternate days giving them California Natural one day and the next Natural Balance Duck and Potato along with Solid Gold Wee Bits. Liza |
I have been cooking also. I get a little nervous about adding flavors so I haven't been, but my Holly is thankful for anything that I give her. I have made her boiled chicken with rice and peas, and also some peanut butter balls that a very nice member gave me. She LOVES peanut butter. I have also given her a little bit of mashed potatoes (no butter) and carrots. I would love some new recipes. I too am a little nervous about the recalls. |
Oh do they love peanut butter!!! That's their favorite. I'll get some recipes out to you ladies as soon as I can, OK? Liza |
