how long after having puppies does a dog come back into heat

one of my girls came in almost six months to the day from the last time. i think it's different with them all.

she has had 2 litters, yes she's a yorkie age 3

What I do is count from the first day she first showed color.......with befoe she was bred with her first litter to the next time she showed color with her second litter. It should be approximately 6 - 8 months. Some come in the first time at 6 months. But the average is about every 8 months. I've had girls come in the first time at 10 months, the next at 9 months and then at 8 months and then stay pretty much consistent at 8 months after they've had their first litter.

are problem is we got her because she belonged to my father in law and he was killed in a car wreck in feb so i have limited info but he had just gotten a new male the day before he was killed and he was planning on breeding her with him as soon as he sold the litter of pups that she had had in dec that's why i was wondering when she would be in heat again we have 2 males and they aren't showing any interest

OK! here's some physical signs to watch for....check her daily for swelling and pickness of her vaginal area. Once you see that it's usually about a week before she begins to show color. I would at that point seperate her from all male dogs. Or, better yet, why not have her spayed, then you wouldn't have to worry about all this. Believe me, if and when she's ready, your dogs will know it and she'll be bred in a blink of an eye if you don't take precautions.
