2Yorkies with bladder infections, was it Royal Canin? I brought my Maggie Moo home last August, she was fed Royal Canin Puppy Food, as was my neighbors young Yorkie. They were both from the same well respected breeder, who NEVER has bladder infections in her dogs, and who didn't feed them Royal Canin, but we both gave them Royal Canin at the recommendation of a very caring, lady vet. And in January of this year, both of these dogs had bladder infections. Maggie became lethargic and had blood in her urine, London was diagnosed after piddling all over her owner's house, which was out of character for her. I had x-rays of Maggie taken to make sure she didn't have kidney stones, she didn't. It took two round of antibiotics to clear up her infection. We both immediately switched to Hill's Science Diet, and so far, so good, but occasionally Maggie's piddle pad has brownish urine on it. I have to wonder if our problems were due to the Royal Canin and also worry what long term effects it could have. This is such a concern. I have two Yorkies, and love them like children, as we all do, and only want the best for them. It breaks my heart to think that my sweet little soul might have ongoing health issues because of bad dog food. I wonder where this will end? How many more recalls can we expect? It is so frightening for all of us. And I also wonder how much of this issue has been covered up. No doubt, we will never know how many dogs have really been affected by eating bad food. Big business will not share any more with us then they have to. If they truly were concerned, they would have been more forthcoming with their recalls in the first place instead of just stringing them out like they are doing. They are concerned with MONEY. If they really cared for our animals, they would not put such inferior ingredients in their food in the first place. When you read the label of the PREMIUM foods, it is downright frightening. All of the animal "by products", what are "by products" anyway? We probably are better off not knowing! It is so upsetting for all of us. We truly don't know what to do with the food supply. |

Hills Science diet was also on the recall list. Not sure about the Royal Canin Puppy, it's what I feed my puppies and I've had no problem....it isn't on the recall list.....but, it's getting to the point where eventually it could be..... |
Hills Science Diet I'm feeding them the adult small bites and it wasn't on the list, but who knows, next week it could be. It just seems odd to me that we both bought bags of Royal Canin at the same PetSmart on the same day and our dogs had problems within two weeks of each other.. |

Home Cookin for our Girls NOW. I just got back from the store and as of tonight am definately going to start cooking for Baby Blessing, not worried about changing her diet to human foods but am wondering on Dollie, our new puppy, if it will be a problem for her. I am praying not. When we first got Baby Blessing she got deathly sick on a new bag of Canine puppy food, at that time the vet thought it had to do with the new bag of food. I phoned Royal Canin, and I sent in sample from the bag to be tested, they were slow getting back to me and finally when I phoned them they said a report would be sent to us. All it stated in the report to us was that the food was within their specks. I wonder now???????? I was convinced by my conversation with them back then that it was okay to feed their product and now I am wondering?????? I now have come to the conclusion that maybe it is time to just start feeding our two human foods and go forth with doing as much research on what I give them to make sure of the nutrition value, also not to add any ingredients that will be of harm. Thanks to one of the posts from a YT'er on another forum and also a PM from another, it has gotten me started today in cooking for Baby Blessing and Dollie. To the above post before mine here, I totally agree that all foods should be pulled and the companys should eliminate the product that caused this to happen. Patti |
Poor babies... I feel your pain, and shame on your vet! I just worry about long term, these little dogs are so tiny who knows what damage it could do to their kidneys if it is dog food. |
Was it Royal Canin Dry YT mix?? |
