Hi-qual cereal for carbs? What is the opinion on giving a high-quality cereal (occasionally) for some of the carb portion for our pups? I eat Kashi Go Lean and I swear it is one of the world's miracle foods. So healthy, has protein, hi-qual carbs, great fiber content. It does contain some wheat - so is that a problem for dogs? Dogs tend to love cereals, so I'm wondering if this could be part of their diet? One could mix it with their yogurt and then it'd be even healthier! Thoughts? Ann |
Since the list of recalled foods keeps growing I too was thinking of looking for a high quality human cereal for my two yorkies to eat. We were very fortunate that mine blood tested ok after being on one of the recalled diets and Im very scared that now whatever dog food I choose will be recalled eventually. Damn the Chinese for trying to boost the protein content just for money. My husband just returned from a business trip to China and from what he observed they have a long way to go in many areas to be a global supplier of any food product. Its just too bad along with the ingredient list on labels it doesnt include the country of origin for the ingredients so we can make informed choices on what we are purchasing. |
If you want to feed a dry cereal then check to see how much sugar is added. Even though it isn't a sweetened cereal, they usually have sugar and some have quite a bit. Maybe you could also consider steel cut oats. I cook this in chicken broth and add it to their breakfast minture along with 1/4 boiled egg white. |
