Question about Rabies shot Hi All! My town, as many others, is offering a free rabies shot. It is a 3 year vaccine. My Simon is only 4 months and this would be his first rabies shot. Last time I was at the vet she said Simon would get one Rabies shot followed by another a year later, then another somet time later, until he would recive a final 3 year shot. It seems to me like puppies get a lower dosage... does this mean the town's 3 year shot is good for adult pets... but what about puppies? |
Not sure mine get one every year |
My guess would be they wouldn't give the 3 year to a puppy because they are supposed to get the first vaccine at around 6 months, and then at a year they get the 3 year booster. |
Generally a dog's first Rabies vaccine is only good for a year, then each after that is good for 3. Laws vary depending upon area though..... Some places don't even allow the 3 year and Rabies must be given each year. Check with your veterinarian. |
