The ingrediant list is for the Arden Grange Premium that Teddy is on now,

I don't know if they check the fish for contamination, are you asking in
respect of the fish oil in it?

It is the amount of Chicken Meal in it this is crushed carcasses
YUK !

The maize is sweetcorn in it (Not that digestable)

It's not the best list I have seen, but then again it's not the worst either.

This is the link that made me get him OFF Nutro but now someone has advised Nutro Holistic I think it is best to avoid it ALL to be on the safe side.

I was asking because of the fish meal...
Corn can be an allergen and some say it is difficult to digest but if Ellie was allergic I would have no problem feeding it.

Chicken meal is actually better than chicken.
Chicken is fine but when you see it on an ingredient list, it means they have not removed the water from it (which can be up to 80% of the weight). So you are getting very little chicken with lots of water. Chicken meal is just chicken with water removed. By-products are what I'd want to avoid. Wellll, I'd want to avoid it altogether.

I looked into chicken meal and look what I found out:

Chicken Meal

Poultry by-product meal is a high-protein commodity used as a major component in some pet foods. It is made from grinding clean, rendered parts of poultry carcasses and can contain bones, offal and undeveloped eggs, but only contains feathers that are unavoidable in the processing of the poultry parts. Poultry by-product meal quality and composition can change from one batch to another.

Chicken by-product meal, like poultry by-product, is made of "dry, ground, rendered clean parts of the chicken carcass" according to AAFCO and may contain the same ingredients as poultry-by product. Chicken by-product can vary in quality from batch to batch. Chicken by-product costs less than chicken muscle meat and lacks the digestibility of chicken muscle meat.

So you wouldn't feed Arden Grange at all then ?

Chicken meal and chicken by-products are different, I believe.
Both chicken and chicken meal can be from the carcass.

It wouldn't be my first choice or my last choice.
No matter what dog food you use (kibble form), it probably will contain carcasses.

My husband came up with a point last night, Dogs in the wild are scavangers and so they would eat carcass and otehr animal remains (I know that sounds awful)

BUT as I said to him. Yorkies are a MAN MADE Breed allbeit pedigree's
and they would not be able to live in the wild, and feed of dead animals etc
they would get very sick.

I think when we are all considering what to feed, we are dealing with a breed with different issues to other breeds, (Who all have thier own issues)

It is a mind field. I can see why you homecook but I have heard it can be hard to get all the correct balance of nutirents homecooking what is/are your receipe/s
