Hiccups
 
My new little guy Manny (he's 18 weeks, aprox. a little under 4 lbs). Seems to get Hiccups daily since the last week. Any idea on what causes this and/or any ideas on how to stop them???

Sorry I am not of any help...but I am pretty sure someone on YT wil be able to give you a solution or at least an idea of what might be causing this...

Princess got hiccups once in a while too... just gently pat on the back and it should go away soon... :)

My boy also hiccups quite frequently. I distract him then because hiccuping is more or less a conscious thing. If you forget about it, you stop, but as long as you are aware of it, you will continue to hiccup. So try to distract the little guy with some toys.

Gizmo did this the other day, and it scared me so much, i didnt know what he was doing....but i pet him and he stopped...hes done it 2 times since...not sure why, like the rest of you, but if i pet him he seems to stop, thank goodness because his whole body shakes when hes hicuping, cant be good for him.

When I got Momiji, she used to have hiccups almost daily as well.
I figure it is just some hiccup so I didn't worry about it and now she doesn't have any.

It's due to stomach spasms. Hard to say what triggers it. Could be nerves or something they eat that didn't sit too well. They outgrow this condition eventually.

Have Manny count while drinking a glass of water while you have your fingers in his ears. Works every time.

Sounds to me like most people pet their yorkie to make the hiccups go away....maybe you aren't petting Manny enough :rolleyes: Or maybe he just wants to have his picture taken...that's it...I bet if you take his picture his hiccups will go away!

Hiccups are caused by muscle spasms of the diaphragm. For humans, the way to get rid of them is to hold your breath and bear down (like a BM...) but that obviously won't work for the furbabies :rolleyes:

I suppose the petting thing might work, but you'd have to push hard enough to calm the diaphragm. Drinking water, too, but I'm not sure how you could make him/her drink enough to get his/her mind off of it.
