Royal Canin involved in food recall.
 
I found this on cnn this morning, it just keeps getting bigger and bigger and worrying me more and more!

YIKES!!!! Just don't feed your pets anything that contains wheat of any kind!

I switched my dogs and cats to Chicken Soup brand foods...I pray they dont get recalled....my kitten was eating the royal canin kitten food but hated it...thank god!!

Yes, it is scarey... and there is a court case involving this matter, but it does have to do with the feline vet food. Royal Canin does not have wheat glutten in it's dry food.

I use Royal Canine for my Yorkies and I never had problems with them .

If I see or hear anymore recalls.............I am going to throw up :(

I don't watch TV, so when people call me to flick on the news because something else is tainted, my heart just sinks. :thumbdown

I feed all 3 the Sensible Choice natural blend by Royal Canin. It doesn't have any wheat gluten so it should be ok? Are they sure that it is the wheat gluten that is causing all the problems? I made sure nothing I am feeding contains wheat gluten. This is getting scarier and scarier.

Yes, all testing that has been conducted has found that it is the wheat glutten, that has been provided from China. They've also found that it goes deeper than that and have found that may have entered the food for human consumption....scarey, yes.....

I just went to the Royal Canine website and they say that the products in the USA are not effected.

It only affects canned prescription cat food made by Royal Canin Canada. Royal Canin USA is not affected. Here's the statement from Royal Canin Canada's website:

I've just been waiting for this. I am sure it has. How could it not? Wheat gluten is a common product in many foods.

They were also saying all of the original recalled food was manufactured in Canada, whereas, the article that started this post said it was just found in Canada and the original recalls affected food from 2 states in the U.S. not Canadian plants. The thing is with all of this mass hysteria about dog and cat food and the media outlets wanting to be the first to break new information, I am convinced (and here comes my paranoia) that we are not getting the correct information by any means, that is why I prefer to feed my pooch food from a company that has absolutely not products recalled! I love him way too much and he's far too young to risk!
