Need tiny, quality kibble.... Hello, My new baby, Marcel, is (and will be) very tiny. His breeder sent him home w/ Euk. Puppy Food for Small Breeds - a tiny kibble. I want him on a more quality kibble but need a tiny kibble. Wylie eats Canidae, but I feel the kibble is just a bit too large for the little fella. Anyone know of a quality tiny kibble (brands like Innova, Eagle Pak, Cal. Natural..you get the idea) that BOTH could be on ? Or, if not - just a more qual. tiny kibble for Marcel? Many thanks! Ann |
Britain eats the Mini Puppy Royal Canin. They are very small and she loves it. |
I have been to several of the local health food/specialty stores and have several packets of sample foods. The brands that I can vouch that have teeny tiny kibble are: Chicken Soup for the Puppy Lover's Soul Eagle Pack Holistic Innova (slightly larger than the above 2 - triangular shaped) Hope that helps with your search! :) |
I had Wylie on RC and I think it makes him itchier than he already is. Also, on the Dog Food Review website, Royal Canin Puppy is ranked as a 2-star food and Royal Canin Terrier is a 1-star. Yikes! Here is the website - the link goes directly to the Royal Canin line (you search others by clicking around): http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_f...&dist=&radius= Thanks for replying to me! :) :) :) Ann |
I have heard that about the food. But I went thru quite a few that she just would not touch. This was the first kind that she will actually eat more than 2 or 3 pieces. I had the Nutro Puppy (natural choice I think) and she wouldnt touch it. She wouldnt eat the Chicken Soup except for the canned but I dont want to give her wet food every day. There was something else to that I tried but cant remember the name...and she wouldnt eat that either. So far I have had no problems with the RC, but if you can suggest something else that picky liitle girls will eat I will give it a try. |
A really small kibble that I use is Solid Gold Wee Bit. I used it for Simon for a while, the only thing is that it is for adults. I guess you could supplement with something, though. |
I highly recommend Chicken Soup for the Puppy Lover's Soul. It is a great quality food  My two are on it and my little girl is very tiny and she eats it just fine. The kibbles are more "flat" - so she has no problem what so ever eating them :) |
How about if I "smashed up" the Canidae ALS a bit for Marcel and left it normal for Wylie? Anyone tried that w/ success? I wouldn't want Marcel's food to just be totally smashed/ground-up - but I wonder if I could "break it up" while still leaving some kibble? Tytainea - if your baby isn't itching, then you've got it made! Wylie did like the RC too, wish he didn't itch so much from it! Ann |

I feed innova small bites, it is tiny small round kibble. It is in a green bag and it must say small bites on the bag. My two love it! |
I was looking on the site with all the dog foods rated by so many stars. I found Merrick Puppy Plate in the 5 star section. I picked up a sample of this at petsmart one day for Britain to try. It was the canned food. She LOVED it. It was like a special treat for her. I was unaware that in comes in Kibble. Has anyone fed this to their babies? I am going to maybe see if they have a small bag of Kibble for her to try. See if she likes that as well as the wet food. |
I highly recommend Artemis Small Breed Puppy Formula. It's tiny, super premium, and probably the tastiest when compared to Canidae and Innova. |
You may want to not only check the size of the kibble but how hard it is...you can have a very tiny kibble that's hard and won't break (so it may get swallowed whole) and you can have a larger kibble that has air baked into it so it breaks easily. We used to feed Innova and it was fine for both of my boys because it was flat and broke very easy. |

I have that one. |

Merrick Grammy's Pot Pie kibble is pretty small...I feed that to Emma mixed with Merrick wet food or Natural balance rolls or canned food. And all of Merricks foods(canned or dry) are for all life stages. Even the one called Puppy Plate one :) It's on their website in the FAQ section :) |

My Lily is also very small at only 1.3 lbs (and I swear most of that must be fur). She also eats the Chicken Soup for the Puppy Lover's Soul which I would recommend. Most of the problem with dry food is that the kibble is not flat enough for these little ones to be able to eat them. Chicken soup is nice and flat. I also feed her about a tablespoon of the Chicken Soup wet food mixed with Rebound supplement because I feel that these little ones need the extra nutrition. |
Both of my babies are on royal canin puppy mini kibbles and they seem to enjoy it.:animal36 |
Zoe loves Artemis. She gobbles it up and I love it's super tiny size...smallest I've seen. |

My smallest is only 2 pounds and does fine on Natural Balance . It isn't really tiny but I just moisten it a tad and she does fine.ACTUALY she is always trying to eat it dry and hard and does ok with it but I am the nut who thinks she needs it moistened. I also have to say she has the TINEST teeth for a 6 month old dog you can hardly see them. Only the canines show up well. I LOVE NB . Makes the coat shiney, cleared up all flaking, and NO DOG FOOD BREATH:p |
Solid Gold Just a Wee Bit - with a little hot water to warm it up but not make it mushy |
