Any homemade Kibble recipes? I really want to find a homemade kibble recipe, you know the kind you can bake. Anyone know of any? I have found homemade treat recipes, and recipes that you can cook up and freeze, but I want the crunchy kibble stuff. Anyone?:confused: Maybe someone on here can make up a kibble recipe with all the vitamins and nutrients and sell it only to YT members! Just a thought!;) |
I have never seen a kibble recipe either. There are so many talented YT members here, so maybe someone will invent one, as you suggested! :I would also be interested. :) |

I had made a homemade dogfood recipe, and I baked some of it into kibbles. It was a lot of work. She seemed to like it, but really no better than any of the commercial foods she ate. |

Pup-e-Love...I used to slice and wedge canned food for my first Yorkie, then I would bake it in the oven and make his treats. I would imagine any home made dog food could be done the same way as long as it has enough moisture and soft ingredients to bind it together. I don't know how much nutrition is lost in doing this or how long the food would last but without a bunch of preservitives like commercial foods you would probably have to freeze or refrigerate what you bake if it's a very large amount. I think I kept boog's treats in the fridge for about a week and if they weren't used I would throw them away. The treats I used to make were in a small wedge, not much bigger than a penny I guess, and I baked them on foil and a cookie sheet at 350 for about 45 minutes...I think. I have a few books here...I'll look and see what they have and post again later. |
Well, that didn't take but a minute! I have 4 books here that all have recipes in them: Food Pets Die For by Ann. N. Martin (this is a very informative book!) Bone Appetit! Gourmet Cooking For Your Dog by Suzan Anson. (this book has several kibble recipes and the acknowledgments are pretty impressive! new choices in Naturel Healing for dogs and cats by Amy D. Shojai and the editors of Prevention Pets. and last but certainly not least..... Dr. Pitcairn's Complete Guide to Natural Health for Dogs and Cats by Richard H. Pitcairn, DVM PHD. & Susan Hubble Pitcairn. I'm sure there are more books on the market but these are the ones I have right now...I hope they will be helpful. |
