Feeding new puppy I have a new pup and when I first got him we were concerned about him eating so since he started eating solid food I leave food in all the time for him. I know this sounds dumb, but I forgot how much a 10 week old pup should be eating. Now that he is doing well he is gaining possibly to fast I am afraid he is to fat. Any help would be appreciated. |
Look at the bag and see how much it says he's supposed to eat. In the morning, measure out "X" amount of food (whatever the bag says) and then make sure he eats all of it within 24 hrs. That way you know he's eating enough. Remember, how much you feed also varies slighly from dog to dog depending on energy levels. |
I emptied the bag into a container then threw it away that is why I have this problem. He definately eats plenty... just want to make sure he isn't over eating. He is 10 weeks old and currently 2.1 oz. It has been years since my little girl had pups and I just can't recall. Thank you |

I free feed so mine eat whenever they want. :) |
Well free feeding is what I am doing but I started to worry about him overeating. If it is ok to free feed at his age I will continue. Thanks for everyone's responses. |

I agree :) Free feeding should be fine, especially when they're pups. What kind of food do you feed your baby? |
I feed him Inova, but I am afraid it may be a bit to rich for him so am thinking of going totally to home cooking. I use to just cook for them once in awhile. Well for my big girl before I got the new guy.... Mocha is an Australian Shepard/Lab mix. |
