Home Cooking Okay, I've been reading lots of posts on home cooking for our babies. When you say "oats," are you talking about oatmeal? And if I cook some oatmeal for breakfast for myself, is that what you're talking about? What is "cut oats?" Is that oatmeal? Can he eat MY oatmeal? What about grits? I'm new at this. Thanks for your help. |
i am also curious to know...hopefully someone can lead us in the right path... |
I'm not sure either, but I know that oatmeal is very healthy. |
I've just started this myself but what I used was Quaker oats 100% whole grain quick-1 minute. Ingredients: 100% natural whole grain quaker quality rolled oats Kim |
Oatmeal can be cooked for the pups, but don't add any sugar to it. I use steel cut oats. Sometimes I even cook it in chicken broth. Bulgur, Corn Grits (also known as Polenta) and couscus are all very good for them and you can mix in some lamb and 1/4 boild egg for a tasy meal. |
how about hot dogs, lunch meat Can our furbabies have turkey hot dogs? I'm trying to experiment with different combinations, and I was wondering if it is a healthy or non-healthy substitute or treat? What about deli meat, such as ham, turkey, salami? What about bologna? Should it be all beef or chicken bologna? When you say they can eat basically anything we eat....I know they are not supposed to have onions, but some of the mixed frozen veggies have onions or onion powder in them. Will that hurt them? And what about garlic, I thought they weren't supposed to have that either, but I saw a recipe on here with garlic in it. I've seen the ratio of 75% to 25% meat to veggies. What amount do we feed them each meal? I feed Sparky twice a day with a helping of cottage cheese or yogurt with fruit for lunch. The bag of Merricks I was feeding said for his size, he should be eating 1 to 1 1/2 cup per day. Help me make Sparky a healthy and happy furbaby! |
Oh NO! Please don't feed your baby any Hot Dogs or Deli Meats - they are FULL of salts and preservatives! Not Healthy At All :thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown |
Thanks so much for the info. I'm new at trying to home-feed my baby and I don't want to do anything to harm him. |
Please, no hot dogs or lunch meats. Also don't cook their food with any spices or gravy. Make it simple and plain. |
