VACCination advice - please I am taking Chewy for his final round of shots tomorrow. On a vaccine calendar I have it states that thiis round should be at 16 weeks. Chewy is only 14 weeks but he has had all of his previous shots. I've also noticed that other people have seemed to be doing it earlier than 16 weeks. Is this ok, the vet wouldn't do it if it was bad, I guess but I just wanted some feedback. Thanks |
series shouldnt be spread more than 4 weeks... you can give them their shots three weeks apart but no longer than 4. |
Very Good to know, thanks |
One more thing PETCO offers affordable vaccinations for your dog. I am thinking of doing this tomorrow. Has anyone had experience with this? Is it just as safe as going to your own vet? the people who do it are vets who care and want to get all dogs vaccinated so they offer good prices. Thanks for any feedback |
yes its fine to take them their but make sure you tell them NO lepto! they have these clinics all the time (once every month) the vet they use is the banfield clinic usually, a shot is a shot, but I will not recomend using them as a vet. |
thanks femminvstr. great advice |
Chachi was about 14 weeks when he got his final shots also. |
According to my vet, I'm to bring him in for his rabies at 6 months which is tomorrow. Was this bad info? I hear everyone being done with shots long before Sancho was and it's concerning me. He was all done at 14 weeks, but Rabies, they say, is at 6 months? Anyone else heard that? |
rabies is fine at 6 months I usually suggest 6-8 months. Each state is different it what they require check with your vet. |
Maximus is 14 weeks and getting his final shot today.....yeahhhhhhhh..lol, but I am going back next week for the lyme disease and then I beleive in 3 weeks for rabies it that too early?...I will tell the vet to hold off if it is too soon..he will only be a little over 4 months |
There is a shot for Kennel Cough too I think. There is a groomer I want to use who has asked that I make sure I get that shot for him too before I bring him to her for a regular visit in her shop (she's been cutting his nails and trimming the hair around his eyes outside for me free of charge). Do you think that shot is really necessary if he's had everything else, if so, what do you call it so I can tell the vet tomorrow? |
Bella got her rabies early and was miserable. She had 1 Lyme last week and in 2 weeks gets the 2nd half. For Bordella you can get the nasal spray one which she had no reaction to!! It is required for puppy class, grooming here at all the groomers in CT |
I think kennel cough is the parainfluenza in the 5 in 1 at 14 weeks. Correct me someone if I am wrong. My vet and the breeder told me to space out the rabies shot bby at leat 2 weeks, which I am going to do. |
