What next.....bullysticks? :thumbdown |
Another recall...how sad. My gf and I refuse to give our yorkie bully sticks and "pig" products for this reason. That...and we're kinda grossed out by it. I'm okay w/ my yorkie having a beef tendon though. It's basically the ligament from a cow. I've been cooking lamb shanks lately. For the two of us for dinner. And the bone...is perfect for our yorkie. First...price. It is maybe $6 - $7 for a package of two lamb shanks. (They are sealed in a plastic pouch, and available at my local Pavilions/VONS). I season and wrap the shanks in foil and bake in the oven @ 370-380 degrees for 40 minutes (probably excessive, but it works). We eat the meat for dinner...and our yorkie loves the chewing the bones. The shank is essentially two bones each. So in theory...it is 4 bones for them to chew on. The bones will not splinter. They are tough...in some ways like beef bones. No salmonella to worry about! It is really cute watching our yorkie chew on the bone. It is a good size...so he'll try to hold down the bone w/ his paw. He'll chew at it for 1.5 hours. haha. The only catch, is he gets his face wet w/ the scent of saliva and lamb. So he gets a bath every time. I would recommend this as an occasional treat, as it is cheap. Dinner for you. Fun for your kiddo. And well...a clean doggie after you're done! |
