Wow ! Everyone Should Make Their Own Dog Food/thanks To The Wonderful People On Here First Of All I Want To Thank Everyone Who Wrote And Answered My Questions About Making My Own Dog Food. All You Guys Were Just Great And Very Knowledgeable. Everyone Should Make Their Own Dog Food From Now On. I Know For Sure I Am Going To Do It. About 1 To 1.5 Hours Every 2 Weeks Or So, Depending On How Many Yorkies You Have, You Can Make This Wonderful Food. I Followed The Recipe That Someone Put In The Notes And Wow ! I Cannot Tell You How He Gobbled It Up This Morning And Evening. He Even Went Back To The Dish Several Times After It Was Gone And Licked The Bowl. Sammy Never Does That , And He Always Leaves Some Too, But Not With Homemade Food. My Next Thing Is Making Him Peanut Butter Treats From Scratch. I Am So Relieved That I Hopefully Will Not Have To Worry About Food Anymore Being Bad. He Even Has More Energy Today After Eating The Food. I Am So Thrilled. Thanks To All The Yorkie Talkers ! |
I'm so glad you are cooking for him. Isn't it amazing how much better they act and feel when they eat real food. You will continue seeing a positive improvement too. |

THANKS ELLE57 |
Yup, home cooking is the way to go! I love being able to give my babies 'healthy' food and a variety of it instead of the same ole kibble day after day. Mine also go crazy at meal time and have better poops and more energy:) I hope more people realize how easy it actually is to cook for them! Thank you yorkiedaze, superpup and lovemysissy for the recipes and advice. I know there are a couple more of you out there that have helped also and apologize that I can't remember your names. |
I'm going to try the home cooking as well but am wondering. With all the soft food, what about their teeth? Won't they be more prone to teeth issues if their food is always wet and soft? |

Great News! So glad he loves 'real food'. Mine love it too! I am trying feeding them Raw food right now, b/c I have serious poop eaters, but once I get it under control, back to make home cooked meals! P.S. I would not give Greenies though, too many sick pets, they are not digestible. Do a search here on yorkietalk regarding Greenies, there are a lot threads about them ;) |

Most do love them, but IMO the risks and dangers of Greenies out weigh the babies love (and obsession) for them! ...mine love fresh stemed Green Beans - yummy :) |
Fresh veggies for treats will help clean their teeth. You can also make a 'mash' of their soft food that you've made and bake it into little cruchy cookies for them. Go to your book store and see if you can find some of the pet nutrition books that are available...you'll find some recipes there for treats...some of them are too froofie but some are practical. |

Yeah, greenies have too many risks. I would stick with the bully sticks :) my2boyz, I didn't know you could bake their soft food! Now that sounds like a cool trick! I'm all for trying that. :) Plus, Harley really only likes crunchy things so that would work great! His favs are mini raw carrots, fresh apple chunks & celary.. Yea he's a weirdo! |

IF I MAY ASK YOU , WHAT DO YOU USE FOR HARD STUFF FOR THEIR TEETH? I MADE THE SOFT HOMEMADE FOOD AND HE LOVES IT, BUT I AM CONCERNED ABOUT HIS TEETH. THANKS FOR ANY ADVICE YOU HAVE ELLE57 |
