vet visit, not himself now We just took Gizmo to the vet yesterday for his 3rd shots...booster ad rabies. He was TOTALLY out of it yesterday, didnt eat, and was soo dopey and sleepy. We didnt put him in his carrier last night to sleep cuz we were worried about him. Today he's a bit back to normal, hes eating/drinking at least, but he's still pretty moopey. Cant really get him to play with his toys. Also when i go to pet him or pick him up, he backs away like hes scared, which has NEVER happened before. Is this a usual reaction after their shots or should i be worried? This is the first time we've taken him to the vet as weve only had him just over a week. |
I've always insisted on giving the rabies shot separate from the other shots, because I think it can be too much for them at one time. Depends on the yorkie. They are all different. Did yours get the rabies shot, too, along with the others? |
yes he got 2 needles, first was the booster, mixed things they said. Then the 2nd was the rabies. Hes sooooooo sleepy still. I just went downstairs to check on him cuz i cant hear his bell and hes in his bed, which he didnt start using until last night after his shot. Guess the beds gettin some use now, but poor lil guy. |

Our little girl had a reaction to her boosters and her rabies which we did seperately. She was pretty out of it after the rabies shot, for several days did not seem like herself. She did recover again and is back to her old self, but for a few days she really didn't have much energy and no appetite. She slept almost the entire day after her rabies shot. |
ok good to know. Gizmo is the exact same way. We took him to the pet shop, and now that were home with his new toys and treats he's his own self again. Still a lil tired, hes sleeping on my lap as i type this, but at least im not so worried anymore! Thanks all for your responses! |
