Does anyone feed Mackeral? I am feeding Roxy and TJ - Nature's Variety - Raw Frozen. I heard to feed some canned Mackeral 1x a week for the Omega 3. Has anyone given Mackeral to their Yorkie? I have stopped giving them the Nupro (same as Missing Link) b/c I had a feeling it was causing Roxy's tears to be Red and staining. This turned out to be true - her tears are clear now without the Nupro. Anyway, I am trying to feed them naturaly and thought Mackeral would be good - they have some dry skin now, I think because of the weather. Anyone? |
Mine have had mackeral before. It was one of the flavors in their Evanger moist food sample case they sent us. They didnt like it very much. I dont know if hard food or raw food would be different |
Really. Maybe the actual Mackeral in a can from the food store would be more appealing. I might just pick one up and try it! ;) |
Its worth a try. You cant go by what mine like because they are super picky and they know if they dont eat it we will feed them something else. Our cat had some and she loved it |
When I was feeding raw I gave mine mackeral about once a week or every 10 days or so. |
Zada and Azrael get a little fish every day. (they also get fish oil and cod liver oil. Certain fish are very high in omega-6 and omega-3, and the body can usually convert the fatty acids from fish more easily than from other sources. Good choices are sardines, herring, lake trout and albacore tuna. |
I give mine mackeral, rockfish, and cods... whatever I catch when I go fishing! hahah. We cook a little for Lola when we're eating our catch! She loves eating fish, and feeling like she gets what we get! :) |
