well... to be honest it is not good food... Layla was on the gastro canned food for about a month for a stomach issue... i went to talk to someone OTHER than her vet and she said... first thing to do is take her OFF The food..w hich i did. and began to feed her high quality natural food.. problems went away... the vets sell it to make money.. not because it is good food... but if it is to solve a tummy problem... you might want to try it for a bit but i woudln't keep her on it long.. esp. because it is a wet food.... dry is a lot better for them. |

here are some brands to try i see you are in TO>... i'm not that far.. London.. go find a privately owned pet store.. not a huge chain look for Canidae Wellness Fromms (That's what i feed right now) Solid Gold GO or ask for something comprable... after MUCH MUCH MUCH research i found out those foods are more or less on the same level of quality... human grade food is what you are after.. and really try and get dry food... good luck and let me know how your search goes |
oh and when you take her off the wet and onto the quality food.. she might go back to diarrhea for a few days while her body tries to get rid of the crap food... it's cleansing itself.. that didn't happen to us but the lady at the pet food store warned me it might :) if you have ANY more quesitons PLEASE PM me... i feel like after such a long time i finally "see the light" with food and i just want to pass on as much info as i can :) |

marcerella, thanks a bunch hun...yes I'm in T.O! good to hear from a fellow canadian  and yeah, I understand she may have diarrhea....I will definitely look into those foods listed there, but missy barely eats DRY FOOD! she loves wet food so much....sometimes i try mixing the dry food with the wet food, but she seems to leave it out. when she's really hungry she'll probably eat the dry food or i'll have to feed it off from my hand.... LOl, I should have known better about the vet giving us food to feed her...they are taking advantage because we are total noobs when it comes to owning a puppy.... I also wasted money on cesar's which i found out here that it is no good....and so we ran out of the vet food so my sister went this morning to go buy a box of IT! talk about being stressed out right now!! (Especially the leafs losing lol :P ) so yeah, I should go to a petowned store?? have you heard of pet value??? lol thats the only pet store that I know of but I am not sure it is a petowned store, thanks for being helpful! |
hey.. ok don't go to PetValue.. go to this link.. these are all the store in Toronto that carry Fromms. SINCE they carry that they will carry MANY other high quality food. http://www.trinatural.com/where_to_b...2&name=Ontario go to one and talk to the owner.. they will have a lot of info and help you make a decision on what you want to feed. you need to go to a store that is privately owned.. not a chain.. they won't carry the good stuff. |
oh and if you HAVE to feed wet.. that's ok.. just feed quality wet.. Layla eats GO salmon formual in the morning with her Missing Link and Fish oil. You can always "starve" her.. just leave the dry down and when she is hungry she'll eat it.. but that's never any fun... but if you want a sample of the Fromms before you go out and buy a bag... PM me your address and i'll send you some in a baggie! |
