Dry Skin Well for a couple of days now I have noticed Adinas skin is dry. I have no clue why if nothing has changed. When I brush her I have noticed more hair on the brush. Do yorkies shed their baby hair to their adult one. I even shaved her down so I can see her skin more. She looks like shes missing a lot of hair but then on the other hand she has been getting a lot of white hairs on her back which make her look that way, I am just so confused might have to take her to the vet just to be on the safe side. ;) but if anybody has gone through this please let me know. :o |
Have you changed the diet at all? We didn't notice any major hair loss between baby and adult hair for Yoda, there is some food nutrion drops we use which is good for his coat. And the stuff we put a few drops in his food is Skin & Coat Supplement, which is made by "Everyone's Best Friend." Usually just a squirt or a few drops on his dry food. |
Where do you get that? I hope it's nothing serious, I had changed her food from Royal Canine to Eukanuba because she was not eating. I already made the change back to Royal Canine tho. I hope that was just it. She is such a fussy eater I have to play with her food for her to eat it lol. I put some in my hand and act like I don't want to give it to her then I drop it and she eats it. (what a brat....) I have started putting some of the olive oil in her food everyother day, so do you think I should give her a couple of days just in case it was just the food change?? |
Oh by the way by what age do they usually get their adult hair? Adina has such ugly frizy hair which I am hoping will change as she gets her adult hair? It gets like a greasy look (usually her head) to it just 2 days after bathing her makes me so mad lol. How can you tell between silky and cottony coats?? |
At six months, they begin to develop their adult-looking stage, usually the time you can tell how their coat will be. Yes, give it a few days and see how she reacts to the food. I got the Skin & Coat supplement at Petco or a pet store, I got something similar to this: http://www.petcarecentral.com/eo-00766.html |
How old is she? If she is getting white/silver hair on her back she is changing colors and she does lose the puppy hair. Yorkies start changing colors from about 3 months on. Some will change completely by the time they are a year to 18 months, others change later. I have a male that did not change until he was 2. Normally they will break on the head first, the hair on their head starts turning white at the roots first and will eventually turn either gold or tan, then the back hair will change. |
