Need help with dry skin please! My baby is scratching with dry skin. Anybody have some advice for me? |
Carolina Girl: There is a thread right now "puppy food recommendations" which is good. What are you feeding him? |
She did not do well on Natural balance. We suspect she is allergic to chicken. She is on a food called Premier that is all natural. She also only gets a bath once a week with a hypo alergetic shampoo and oatmeal conditioner. |
My Chanel plays ourside and in the water - and last summer got very itchy from being in the hose so much - I tried Veternarians Best SKIN conditioner and it helped her within 24 hours - she never itches ever anymore - It's sold at PETCO and is about 8 dollars - It saved her skin last summer - It's not a hair conditioner - it's a Skin Conditioner and whatever it has in it - it works |
Sometimes, bathing them too often causes dry skin. My vet told me that it strips their skin and hair of their natural oils and causes dry skin. So now I bathe my yorkie every other week instead. |
Missing Link Supplement You should try Missing Link Supplement. It's a powder that you put in your puppy's food. It has a lot of nutrients and oils, like flaxseed oil which really hydrates the skin. When I first got Oreo he was full of Dandruff, flakes and he was always itchy!. I tried Missing Link in conjuction with Innova (in my opinion high quality food) and the dandruff soon went away. You can get Missing Link at your local Pet Store or Petco/Petsmart. You can also go to google.com type in "Missing Link - Canine formula" and can do some research on it. Good Luck & Best Wishes! |
My vote for Missing Link-- also- the Linotone (sp) found at Pets mart/Petco can also be a help |
Thanks everyone! I went and got some missing link last night and started her this morning. I will see how that does and maybe try the skin conditioner since we are going to the beach in about a week and a half. Thanks again Cindy |
