My Momiji was poop eater but she hasn't eaten her poop for couple of weeks. So I am assuming she grow out of it... Good luck, no kissing until he brush his teeth!!! |
Well mine started that too.....I heard to put meat tenderizer in their food. So I did...and guess what...she sniffs it now & walks away.... Try it, I put a bunch on the top of her food and mix it through w/ my hand. Hope it helps. They are not suppose to like it after it goes through, but she likes it on her food........Who knows............. God Bless |

Yes, it is a powdered mix, but you can buy it in small plastic little jars, like you buy cinnamon or oregano...etc.. It is with the spices. Mine is orange in color....it worked for us and she likes to eat it I think it gives her food flavor! Blessings |
for-bid My little yorkie was also eating her poop ,I asked her vet and she sold me some packets called( for-bid ).you use a 1/4 of the pack twice a day mix it with their food for 5 days and it will stop them from doing this .I tried it and yes it does work . it is not harmful to the dog, and they will still eat their food ,but when it poops it tastes awful I paid about 2.50 a pack and it does 4 feedings. Give it a try. |
poopie well, i'm so glad i'm not the only one with a dog that tries to eat poop! that is soooooo nasty!!! I have caught teddy trying to sneak it and eat it. I have scolded him for doing so, but he just gives me this look like " darn it, i'm caught"....his expression is so funny! I will try that meat tenderizer. yorkiemomm7 |

When i caught my little Ziggy eating her poop, I got really nervous and I looked it up on- line. I read somewhere that puppies usually eat their poop when they are afraid. They say that way back in the days dogs did it all the time to cover their trails from their prey. So yeah I guess it's normal. The article also said that they usually grown out of it, but you should always stop them from doing it. |
Ok, I didn't figure it out until we'd had a couple litters of puppies. I think that one of the first things new puppies learn is that momma cleans them up when they poop. The momma is constantly cleaning their little bottoms and eating the poop and pee. So, what are they conditioned to do when they open their little eyes and start to become mobile? They eat poop just like momma does for them. Most of them do it, we call it self-snacking, and grow out of it. I saw my neighbor going around her yard and sprinkling something on the lawn. I asked what she was doing and she said that someone told her to put tobasco on the dog poop and then they would not eat it. I asked her why she wasn't just picking it up and throwing it away since she was searching for poop anyways.......she just looked at me and said :0 "Oh, I didn't think of that!" |

I smiled with all the posts except for yours when I started laughing out loud. We just picked up our new little stud from friends in FL. Her grown son tried to convince us that we really didn't want Buddy because he was a BAD dog, he bites and he eats poop! But he joins us in Ohio with a troop of poop eaters that can scoop it up faster than a blink of the eye. I read somewhere that dogs eat cat poop because the food is not totally digested. I guess that may apply to puppies poop too. Anyway, I'm going to try the meat tenderizer. It just might be an easy solution. |
And here I thought I had Queen Brandi of Poopie Eaters......she will chase me down to see who gets to it first.......most of the time she wins.....although if I see/smell it first I trick her and pick her up until it's picked up |
