I'm looking for some good diet recipes for yorkies.Because I have a yorkie that is atleast 7 and a half pounds and she is supposed to be 5 or 6 pounds (probably 5) got any recipes OR ideas to help her lose weght. :aimeeyork :aimeeyork :aimeeyork :animal36 :) |
I have heard to feed them green beans when you are dieting them. They fill them up |
Question? Quote:
Is it dangerous to feed them to many?:aimeeyork :aimeeyork :animal36 :animal36 :aimeeyork :aimeeyork :) :) |
I dont think so but they still need protein. I would also feed chicken and rice |
Is your Yorkie 7+ pounds because she is chubby or are you trying to reduce her weight because you were told she is supposed to be 5-6 pounds? If she is chubby, try feeding her 3 to 4 times a day verses 1 or 2. It speeds up her metabolism. Take her out for more exercise and yes, the green beans will help - get the UNsalted canned beans. If she is not chubby - then don't diet! Some Yorkies just are larger no matter what you were told she should be. |

I've got her down to where she needs to be and she's keeping the weight off. |
:aimeeyork Does anybody have any other ideas (just to get a few extra ideas)? :animal36 |
lexi is alittle on the heavy side too.. she is losing alittle at a time.. i give her carrots and celery too.... also low fat treats and cottage cheese. i also try to give her lots of exercise. |
I just took Misha in to the Vet. She is a couple of pounds over weight. The Vet said a couple of pounds for them is like 15 for us. He said extra green beans, no treats. More walks. Cut out the apples to much sugar. Vegetables, chicken. They don't eat much of their food. Smaller meals, more frequent. Sounds to me it's like if we wanted to lose weight. |
Thanks! Thanks for the help!:aimeeyork :animal36 :aimeeyork :animal36 :aimeeyork :) :D  :animal-pa |
